Obits on page 7. DONALD E. MARTIN Donald E. Martin, 75, Morganfield, died Saturday at 11:14am at Union County Methodist Hospital in Morganfield. Mr. Martin was a member of Morganfield First Baptist Church. He served as Master Masonic Lodge, he also served in the 16 Air Service Squadron. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Minor and Lela Martin. Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean Martin; four daughters, Elaine Martin and Cindy Pennington, both of Morganfield, Anita West of Owensboro and Amy Thompson of Morganfield; two sons, Donald W. Martin of Shawneetown and Vernon Martin of Morganfield; oen brother, C. N. Martin of Sand Branch, WV; and eight grandchildren. Services were at 12:00 Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Morganfield with Rev. Mark Galloway officiating. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery in Morganfield. Donations may be made to the Building Fund at Morganfield First Baptist Church. HELEN TURNER Helen Turner, 62, Morganfield, died Thursday at 7:45 pm at Unoin County Methodist Hosptial. Mrs. Turner was a member of Whispering Meadows Baptist Church in Morganfield. She was preceded in death by her father, Herschel Sturgell. Survivors include her husband, Willam Turner; her mother, Ethel Sturgell of Morganfield; two daugthers, Kimberly Turner of Henderson and Stacie Turner of Morganfield; one son, Richard Allen Turner of Morganfield; two sisters, Lorrain Rohma of Metamora, IL., and Sharon Spivey of Mattoon, IL; four brothers, Eddie Sturgell of Louisville, Vernon Sturgell, and Herschel Sturgell and Marvin Sturgell, all of Morganfield; and four grandchildren. Services were at 1pm Monday at Northside Baptist Church in Morganfield with Rev. Jimmy Reynolds. Burial was in Odd Fellow Cemetery in Morganfield. GERTRUDE CORBETT Gertrude Corbett, 73, Waverly, died Saturday at 1:30 pm at her residence. Mrs. Corbett was a member of St. Peter's in Waverly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam C. Corbett in 1991 and son Sam Corbett. Survivors include four daughters, Peggy Beltz of Kansasi City, MO, Mary Pat Morrow of Orlando, FL, Martha H. Sims of Estacada, OR, and Judy Jerome of Owensboro; one brother, J.W. Berry of Waverly, and eight grandchildren. Services were at 9:30pm Tuesday at St. Peter Catholic Church with Father Bob Willett officiating. Burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery. NOBLE SMITH Noble Smith, 73, Morganfield, died Friday at 12:55pm at his residence. Mr. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church in Morganfield. Survivors include his wife, Violet Smith; two sons, David Smith of Morganfield and Mark Smith of Franklin, TN; three sisters, Wilma Lappin of CA, Phyllis Emery of Mt. Vernon, IL. and Betty Nixon of Greeley, Co; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services were at 2:30pm Monday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Galloway officiating. Burial was in White County Memorial Gardens in Carmi, IL. WILBURN 'WATERBOY' MORGAN Wilburn "Waterboy" Morgan, 78, Sturgis, died Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 8:05am at Community Methodist Hospital in Henderson. Mr. Morgan was retired and was an avid trader. He was a member of Sturgis First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Morgan and Annie Moman. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Dortha; one daughter, Carolyn Cobb of Sullivan and one son, Dick Morgan of Sturgis; one brother, Calvin Morgan of Madisonville; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Services were at 2pm Thursday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis with Brother Noble Cobb adn Brother Don Phelps officiating. Burial was in Pythian Ridge Cemetery. LOU VINNIE OWENS Lou Vinnie Owens, 73, Dixon, died at 11:26 pm Saturday at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. She was a housewife. Survivors include her husband, Roscoe Lee; two daughters, Mary Asher of Poole and Dottie Walker of Henderson; five sons, Tommy Owens of Henderson, Ray Owens of Sebree, Bobby Owens of Dixon, Joe Owens of Sturgis and Jimmy "Ernie" Owens of Providence; one brother, Lloyd Stone of Sturgis; 17 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; neices and nephews. Services were at 1pm Tuesday at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon with Rev. Gordon Downs officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson. WILLIAM EARL CARROLL William Earl (Booger) Carroll, 60, died at the Good Samaritan Hosptial in Vincennes, IN about 8:09 am Tuesday, Feb. 17. He was a former resident of Sturgis. Carroll was born March 6, 1928 in Caseyville, KY, and was the son of William T. and Hattie Cummings Carroll. He was a retired school bus driver for the Unit 20 schools in Lawrencville, IL. Carroll was also a fomer owner and operator of Carroll's National Premium Service Station in West Port, IL for several years. He is survived by his wife, Martha June Carroll of Vincennes; his daughter, Kathryn Ann Howard of Vincennes; a granddaugther, Kassie Rouse of Washington, IN and a great grandson, Levi Bromn of Washingtin, IN. Also surviving are three step children, Larry Corn of Jasper, IN, Bonnie Moore of Washington and Mike Corn of Wheatland, IN. Others survivors include two brothers and sisters in laws, William and Darlene Carroll adn Douglas and Shirley Carroll, all of Evansville, IN; a sister, Margie Vaugh of Lawrenceville, IL; four nephews; a niece; and an aunt Lula Cummings of Sturgis. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and two brothers. Funeral services were held at 11am Friday, Feb. 20 at Gardner & Son Funeral Home in Vincennes. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes. SAMUEL MILLER TRAVIS Mr. Samuel Miller Travis, 88, Sturgis, died Monday at 8:10 am at Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg, IL. Mr. Travis was a retired farmer and a member of Sturgis General Baptist Church for 49 years. He was preceded in death by a son, Willie Joe Travis in 1992. Survivors include his wife, Alberta; two daughters, Louise Edwards of Chandler, IN and Sally Adamson of Marion, KY; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Services will be today at 2 at Whitsell Funeral Home with Bro. Nicky Winters and Bro. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Pythian Ridge Cemetery. Roberson, 36, died Saturday at 5:30pm at Welborn Baptist Hospital in Evansville after a long illness. Mr. Roberson was a farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edith and Raymond Roberson in 1996. Survivors include two sisters, Pam Berry of Waverly and Francis Roberson of Morganfield; two brothers, Stevie Roberson of Morganfield and Larry Roberson of Henderson; two nieces and four nephews. Services were at 1 Tuesday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield with Rev. Dwight Jackson officiating. Burial was in the City Cemetery in Uniontown. DOUGLAS "PETE" LEWIS Douglas "Pete" Lewis, 54, Smith Mills died at 9:08 pm Tuesday, at St. Mary's Medical Cetner in Evansville. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Uniontown, and he was also a heavy equipment operator. Survivors inlucd his wife of 36 years, Donna; one daughter, Leigh Ann Hooper of Smith Mills; one son, Joseph :Petey" Lewis of Smith Mills; three sisters, Patsy Eblen of Dixon, Martha Turley of Smith Mills, and Anna E. Parish of Sturgis; two brothers, Alan Lewis of Uniontown, and John Lewis of Smith Mills; and four grandchildren. Services were at 10am Saturday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. The Rev. Andy Ausenbaugh officiated. Burial was in Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson. CHARLES E. SNYDER Charles E. Syder, 85, Galatia, IL, died Sunday at 6:05 am at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado, IL. Mr. Snyder was a retired security guard and a retired trucking terminal manager. He was also a member of Dekoven Church of Christ in Dekoven, KY. Survivors include two daugthers, Suzette Parks of Stonefort, IL and Beverly Snyder of Galatia, IL; a son, James Snyder of Memphis, TN; and two sisters, Gertrude Roberson and Mildred Snyder, both of Memphis, TN, and seven grandchildren. Services will be Thursday at 11am at Felty Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis. MARGARET WILLIAMS Margaret Williams, 85, Sturgis, died Thursday at 9:39 pm at Union County Methodist Hospital. Mrs. Williams was a member of Jehovahs Witness. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Lockett of Sturgis; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held March 14 at 2pm at Jehovahs Witnesses in Morganfield. ALICE VINSON Alice Vinson, 65, Morganfield, died Wednesday, March 4, at 4:35am at her son's residence in Morganfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernie and Kitty Quartermouse. Survivors include two sons, Gordon T. Vinson of San Benito, TX, and Terry Joe Vinson of Morganfield; three sisters, Velda Clark of Sullivan, Essie Gibson and Bessie Gibson, both of Clay; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services were at 1 pm Friday at Whitsell Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial was in Baker Cemetery in Crittenden County. IRMA LEE PARKER Irma Lee Parkes, 77, died at 2:40 am Wednesday, March 4 at Union County Methodist Hospital in Morganfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Parker Sr. Survivors include three daughter, Linda Parker of Chicago, IL, Althea Morrow and Daphne Yvonne Parker, both of Morganfield; six sons, Amos Parker Jr., James Parker, Donald Parker, and Keith Parker, all of Chicago, Robert Parker of Henderson, and Dwight Parker of Morganfield; two sisters, Dorothy Shelton of Morganfield, and Aline Anderson of Chicago; one brother, William Ray Rice of Colorado Springs, CO; several grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Services were at 1pm Saturday at Bowman Chapel C.M.E. Church in Morganfield. The Rev. Virgil T. Rice officiated. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield. RUBY BISHOP Ruby Bishop, 91, of Uniontown died Saturday at 1:20pm at Salem-Springlake Nursing Home, Salem, KY. Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by her husband, John Bishop in 1968 and 6 sisters and 4 brothers. Survivors include nieces and nephews. Services were Sunday at 3pm. Burial was in Odd Fellow Cemetery in Morganfield. MR. ZEL WIMBERLY Zel Wimberly, 83, of Morganfield died Saturday March 21 at 10:25am. Mr. Wimberly was an Army Veteran having served in World War. He was born in Clarksville, TN June 30, 1914 to Ben Wimberly and Ella (Tyler) Wimberly. Survivors include Catherine and Natherine Wimberly who took care of him. Several other nieces and nephews also survive. Services are Friday March 27, at 1pm and visitation will be the 26th from 6-9 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield. Burial will be at Ball Hill in Union County. JACKIE TINSLEY JR. Jackie Ray Tinsley Jr. 21, of Morganfield died Saturday morning at home. The Union County coroner is investigating. Surviving are his wife, Donna Sue; a son, Jackie Ray Tinsley III of Morganfield; his parents, Jackie Ray Sr. and Paula Tinsley of Morganfield; a sister, Kristy Dawn Tinsley of Morganfield; and grandparents Ruby Tinsley of Tolu and Howard T. Scott of Cadiz. Services were Tuesday at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, with burial in Whites Chapel Cemetery.
