MARILYN E. INGRAM Marilyn Elizabeth Ingram, 74, of Beechmont, died Tuesday April 14, at 10:10pm at her residence. Mrs. Ingram was born in Union County on March 2, 1924. She was a retired Postmaster from the Beechmont Post Office and was a member of Beech Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Garrett Ingram of Lexington; one son, Keith Ingram of Lexington; one daughter, Jane Linam of Beechmont; two grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and a sister, Carolyn Brantley of Eaton Rapids, MI. Furneral services were held April 18 at Beech Creek Baptist Church with burial in Pythian Ridge in Sturgis. LULA M. STROUSE Lula M. Strouse, 79, Henderson, died at 12:17pm Tuesday, April 28 at Community Methodist Hospital. She worked in the deli at the former Dick's Grocery, which is not North-N-Foods. She was preceded in death by her husband, Novice "Nucks", who died April 22, 1990. Survivors include four daughters, Lou Sandefur, Brenda Barnes, Carolyn Majors and Debbie Caldwell, all of Henderson; one sister, Ella Jones of Morganfield; one brother, Willie D. Edens of Sturgis; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Services were Thursday, April 30 with burial at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony's Hospice. WALTER LEE CARVER Walter Lee Carver, 83, Cloverdale, CA, died Friday, April 24th in Cloverdale Hospital of pneumonia. He was a retired Lumber Mill Wright for 35 years. Preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Eison Carver ; his father, David Lee Carver of Bremen, KY and his mother, Daisy Lee Carver Hogan of Vincennes, IN. Survived by one brother, Bennie Carver of Sturgis, several nieces and nephews. BLANCHE B. BANKS Blanche B. Banks, 73, formerly of Sturgis, died Tuesday April 28 at Cartias Medical Center in Louisville. She was retired Secretary of the American Air Filter. Survived by one son, Durrell R. Banks ; one sister, Mary Katherine Reynolds; one grandchild, Dawn Marie Genter; one sister in law, Ellen Bell and one nephew, Billy Bell, both of Sturgis. Services were Friday at Arch L. Heady & Son in Louisville, with burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West, also in Louisville. MRS. PEARL MITCHELL Mrs. Pearl Mitchell, 69, Sturgis, KY died Thursday, April 30 at Reginal Medical Center in Madisonville. Pearl was a member of the Sturgis Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank in 1987. Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Pierce of Clay, and Ellen Graham of Galatia, IL; three step daughters, Sue Stevens ov Madisonville, Ime Estes of Sturgis, Phyllis Mitchell of MI; two sons, William Miller of Sturgis and William Mitchell of Swedesbor, NJ; three sisters, Lilllie Nesmith of Madisonville, Christine Oakley of Mortans Gap, and Mary Lou Thompson of Earlington, KY; two brothers, James Glaysbrook of Madisonville and Charles Glaysbrook of Earlington. Seven grandchildren, one step grandchild, one great greatchild and several step great grandchildren. Services were Sunday at the Sturgis Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Old Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville. EVELYN C. GRIGGS Evelyn C. Griggs, 87, Morganfield, died Monday, May 4 at Ridgeway Manor Nursing Center, Ridgeway, IL. She was born in Union County in 1910 to Roy and Ruby Whitledge. Mrs. Griggs wsa a member of the Morganfield First Baptist Church. Mrs. Griggs was preceded in death by her husband John Will Griggs in 1981. She is survived by several cousins. Services are pending at Whitsell's in Morganfield. FRED (DON) BAIRD Mr. Fred (Don) Baird, 69, Henshaw, died Monday, May 4 at Union County Methodist Hospital. Survived by his wife Linda of Henshaw, one daughter, Donna Baird of Henshaw, one sister, Gayle Sterling of Sturgis, one brother, Norman Baird of Sturgis, and several nieces and nephews. HEDGEPATH Danny K. Hedgepath, 46, Sturgis, died 3am in his residence on Thursday, May 14. Danny was born July 5, 1951 to the late John and Katherine Hedgepath. He was an avid motorcycle rider and he loved to fish. He was a long time farm hand and friend to Joe Woodring of Sturgis. Mr. Hedgepat was a member of the DeKoven Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his sister Gracie Ricketts and brother in law Tom Ricketts, December 1997. Survivors include, his wife of 20 years, the former Kathy Hunter Hedgepath, formerly of Morganfield, one son, John Daniel of Sturgis, two step dauthters, Tammy Hale of Uniontown and Augusta McMain of DeKoven; one step son, Bobby Wayne McMain of Danville, IL; three step grandchildren, Kelsee McMain, Kanine McMain, and Madison Hale; four sisters, Patsy Ricketts of Morganfield, Judy Crawford of DeKoven, Sarah Courtney of Vincennes, IN and Polly Jones of Dawson Springs; six brothers, Bobby Hedgepath of DeKoven, Doug Hedgepath of Newton Falls, OH, Mickey Hedgepath of Morganfield, Darrell Hedgepath of DeKoven, Larry Hedgepath of Sturgis and Ritchie Jones of Sturgis. Funeral services were Saturday, May 16 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis, with burial at Caseyville Cemetery in Union County, Brother Pete Hedgepath officiated the service. (Personal note, Brother Pete Hedgepath is the son of Bobby Hedgepath) ALVA NELSON STARKEY JR. Alva Nelson Starkey Jr. 69, Morganfield, died May 13th at his residence. Mr. Starkey was a member of First Baptist Church of Morganfield and a member of American Legion, Griggs-Alvey Post in Morganfield. He was a veteran of Korean War and a past commander of VFW Post 5486 in Sullivan. He was worked at Robertson-Quinn Motors of Sturgis for 19 years and P&M Coal Co and Island Creek Coal Co for 20 years. Mr. Starkey was born in Harrisburg, IL in 1929 to the late Alva N. Starkey and Harriet (Stewart) Starkey. He is preceded in death by one brother, Roy Starkey and his parents, Alva & Harriet Starkey. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Starkey of Morganfield, one daughter, Sherry Freer of Pride; five sons, Mark Starkey of Sturgis; Paul Starkey of Morganfield; John Starkey of Columbus, MS, Matthew Starkey of Sturgis and David Starkey of Morganfield.; two sisters, Susie Williams of Sturgis; Edna Birkner of Gadsden, AL; seven step children; Roger Lalik of Henderson, Charlie Wright, Kenny Wright, Harry Wright, Diane Carrier, Gary Wright, Patsy Wright; two great grandchildren; one special granddaughter "Little Sarah"; one step grandson, Andy Peoples. Services were Friday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield with burial at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield. ROGER D. MARKHAM Roger D. Markham, 39, Princeton, died Sunday, May 17 at Camdenton, MO. Roger was born in Morganfield 1958. Survivors include his wife, Victoria Markham of Princeton, his mother and father, Reba and Duel Markham of Fredonia; his maternal grandfather, Dock E. "Buster" Wright of Sturgis; one daughter, Michelle Markaham of Princeton; three sons, Brian, Matthew and Michael Markham all of Princeton; one sister, Tanay Miller of Danvers, IL; one brother, Edward Markham of Manito, IL and one granddaughter, Rebecca of Princeton. Services are today at 1pm at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis. Burial will follow at Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis. LEE REDDING Lee Allen Redding, 77, died Wednesday night at Community Methodist Hospital. He owend Lee Redding's Plumbing and Heating and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Temple and the Kentucky Historical Society. Surviving are a siter, Margie Bingemer of Sturgis; two brothers, Vogel and Roy, both of Louisville; two grandchildren, Tim Redding nad Lis Crossett; two great granddaugthers and neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche E. in 1993, daughter Marjenia Redding in 1997, and a son Charles Manual Reddings in 1969. Obits on page 2. ANN CRONIN FISTER Ann Cronin Fister, 87, Owensboro, KY, died Friday, May 22 at the Sturgis Community Rest Home. Mrs. Fister is survived by her son Edward Fisters of Sturgis and two sisters; Sister James Marguerite of Maryland and Sister James Patrick of Louisville, KY, two grandchildren, two step grandchildren and one step great grandchild. Ann was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Owensboro, Ky. Funeral and burial will be Lexington, KY at Midward Funeral Home. AILEEN GRAHAM HOLT Mrs. Aileen Graham Hold, 94, Morganfield, died Monday, May 25 at Union County Methodist Hospital. Aileen was preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel A. Holt, April 5, 1976. She is survived by several neices and nephews and one cousin. Mrs. Hold was a school teacher for 46 years and was a member of the KY retired teachers associatin, Amercian Legion Auxiliary and the oldest member of the Woodland Baptist Church where her grandmother was a charter member. Mrs. Holt was born December 22, 1903 in Union County, KY. Funeral will be Thursday at 10am at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield. Calling time will be at 4pm until 8pm and 8am until service time on Thursday.
