A carpenter, Buckman was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sheffield, IL; He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the US Navy. Preceded in death by his parents, two daugthers, Mary DeWaele and Peg Buckman, two grandsons, Steve Dewaele and Dylan Buckman and three brothers. Obits on page 5. ELMER "COTTON" COKER - 71, formerly of Sturgis, died Wed. Nov.3 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. He had been resident at Senior Citizens Nursing Home for the past 15 months. Preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Scott adn Naomi Crowe, and two brothers, Carl Abray Coker and William Ray Coker. Survived by his wife, June Coker, two daughters, Melina Marks and Kathy Evans, both of Madisonville; a son, Davey Coker of Madisonville; five sisters, Leodia Walker of Dawson Springs, Georgia Humphrey Nelson of Sturgis, Helen Moseley of DeKoven, Ruby Odom Matthews of Evansville and Lucille Brown of Morganfield; a brother, Joe Hall of Sullivan; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Nov. 4, at Methodist Hospital Union County from complications from pneumonia. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Sturgis. Survived by her husband, Billy Anderson; one daughter, Kelly Alloway of Sturgis; one sister, Linda Young of Columbus, OH and one grandchild. Services were held Sat. at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis with burial in Crowell Cemetery in Crittenden County. PAUL M. "DUDE" HAGAN - died Sun. Nov. 7 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a member of the Waverly Knights of Columbus and a veteran of WWII. Co-owner and operator of Hagan's market in Waverly for 45 years. Preceded in death by his parents, Robert Paul Hagan and Clara French Hagan; three brothers, Linus, Jim, and Leonard Hagan and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Hagan French. Survived by his wife of 55 years, Louise; three daughters, Nancy Crump and Helene French both of Morganfield and Rita Mills of Waverly; two sons, Kenny Hagan of Detroit, MI., and Raymond Hagan of Waverly; a sister, Loretta Girten of Henderson; two brothers, Joe and Billy, both of Waverly; 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #881, Wheatcroft. A member of Mt. Pleasant Cumberland Church, United Auto Workers, Amateur Radio Club, Union Aviation, Inc. and a Kentucky Colonel. Preceded in death by his father Leory Milburn LaNeve Sr. in 1967. Survived by his mother, Josie LaNeve of Sullivan; two sisters, Jean Sauve of Lake Placid, FL., Joetta Breeding of Sullivan; two brothers, Cecil of Providence and Nathan of Clay. JOSEPHINE WADDELL - 73, Sturgis, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999 at her home in Sturgis of an apparent heart attack. Mrs. Waddell was a member of The Church of God in Sturgis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Calep and Dora Hazel, two brothers, William and Pete Hazel, three sisters, Katherine Hazel, Dorothy Ricketts, and Jewell Logan, one granddaughter, Debra K. Waddell, one grandson, Larry Keith Waddell Jr. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Delmer Waddell; one daughter, Tressa Williams of Mayfield; two sons, Jimmy Waddell of Providence and Larry Waddell of Sturgis; two sisters, Lil Owens of Phoenix, AZ and Carol Back of CA; two brothers, Earl Hazel of Raceland, KY and Merian Ray Hazel of IL; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday at Church of God of Prophecy in Stugis. Burial was in the Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis. JESSIE MAE HUNTSPON - 80 of Uniontown died Fri. Nov. 5 at Union County Methodist Hospital. She was a devoted member of her Sunday School class, a member of Bowman's Chapel CME church and choir. Vice president of the Missionary Society, past treasurer of Cleaves Chapel CME Church. Preceded in death by her husband A. D. in 1995 and a son, Jerry in 1983. Survived by two daughters, Judy Hammond of Uniontown and Debra Hill of Indianapolis, IN; two son, Michael of Evansville and a foster son, Harold Calloway of Morganfield; one sister, Helma Greene of Indianapolis, IN and 21 grandchildren. WILLIAM R. BAIRD - 78 of Sturgis died Nov. 9 at Methodist Hospital in Union County. Preceded in death by his wife Millie in 198 and a sister Mary Ellen Evans in 1997. LUCKETT - 87 of Morganfield, died Nov. 13 at his residence. Survived by his wife Blanche; one daughter Mary Jo Steward of Morganfield; one sister Florence Meech of Boca Raton, FL; one grandchild Gregg Steward; two great grandchildren, Corbin and Tandy Steward, both of Morganfield. Mr. Luckett was a memeber of St. Ann Catholic Church in Morganfield and a member of Knights of Columbus and past president of Union Bank and Trust Co in Morganfield, and a life long farmer. Services were Monday at St. Ann Catholic Church with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery. CELIA ANN HEDGES - 68, of Henderson, died Nov. 13,1999 at Methodist Hospital in Hendeson. Preceded in death by her parents, Jim Tom and Beatrice Buckman. (no burial place mentioned) MARGARET DUNCAN - 81 of Henderson, died Fri Nov. 12 at Deaconess Hospital. She was a member of Holy name of Jesus Catholic Church. Preceded in death by her husband Ray in 1973. Survived by four daughters, Bettye Ann Hubbard of Fairfield, OH, Phyllis Crafton of Henderson, Janice Cherundolo of Indianapolis, and Kathy Sturm of Miami, FL; three sisters, Lula Mae Rhodes and Martha Buckman, both of Henderson, and Mary Ellen French of Morganfield; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
