Survived by one daughter, Carole Stice of Nashville, TN; one granddaughter, Shelley and one great grandson, Reilly, both of Nashville, Tn. Services were Tues. Oct. 6, 1999 at the Dekoven Methodist Church with burial in Caseyville Cemetery in Union County. ELIZABETH MEACHAM WILSON - 84 of Williston, FL, formerly of Morganfield, died Thur. Sept. 30, 1999 at her residence in FL. Survived by one son, Charles E. Payne of Palatha, FL; two daugthers, Peggy Payne Brooks of Williston and Elizabeth Payne Barrentine of Destin; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Eleanor Thurmond of Daytona Beach, FL., and Annie M. McElroy of Waverly; two brothers, William Meacham of Sturgis and Charles M. Meacham III of Morganfield; nieces and nephews; Memorial service was held Sat. Oct. 2, 1999 at Williston Church of God with burial in Odd Fellow Cemetery in Morganfield at a later date. She was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Charles Meacham Jr of Morganfield, KY. POLLY C. BRYANT - 78 of Henderson, died Thurs. Sept. 30, 1999, at her residence. Survived by her husband of 27 years, Dewey; four daughters, Linda Greenwell of Morganfield, Brenda Whitmore of Leithchfield, Velma Gibson and Wanda Littlepage Gibson, both of Henderson; one foster daughter, Nancy Hall of Utica; one stepson, Floyd Evans of Stanley, KY; one brother, Thomas C. Courtney of Evansville, IN; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 11 step great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Services were held Sat. Oct. 2, 1999 at the Henderson General Baptist Church with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. EDWARD HODGE - 87 of Sturgis died on Mon. Sept. 27, 1999 at the Jennie Stuart Hospital in Hopkinsville, Ky. Preceded in death by his wife Flora in 1992; Survived locally by nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held Fri. Oct. 1, 1999 at the Caseyville Cemetery. Mr. Hodge was born in Saline County, IL to Mr. John H. Hodge adn Mrs. Minnie Hodge (Smith) on May 27, 1912. CHARLES GRANT SMITHERS, SR. - 78 of Cookeville, TN died on Fri. Sept 17, 1999 at the Standing Stone Health Care Center. Preceded in death by one sister, Cornelia Tynowree of New Jersey. Survived by his wife Linda; one daughter, Donna Tidwell Cross of Nashville, Tn., five sons, Grant and Shawn Smithers of Cookeville, TN., Andy Smithers of CA., Danny Martin of Cookeville and Ted Tidwell of AZ; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Services were at the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home in Cookeville on Sept 20. Burial in Crestlawn Cemetery in Cookeville. Mr. Smithers was born in Kentucky on March 16, 1921 and a natvie of Dekoven. Survived by her husband Larry; parents George C. & Evelyn Henshaw of Sturgis; one daughter, Beth Lacy of Providence; one step daughter, Allison Thweatt of Sturgis; one son, Greg Moore of Sturgis; one step son, Larry E. Oct 8, 1999 at the Methodist Hospital in Morganfield. Survived by three sisters, Lucile McGuire of Uniontown, Christine Berry of Mt. Vernon, IN., and Alice Gray of Danville, IL; three brothers, John Gruny of Mt. Vernon, IN., James Grundy of Louisville, KY., and William Grundy of Danville, IL; nieces and nephews. Services were held Tues. Oct. 12, 1999 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Uniontown with burial in St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery. Ms. Cruse was born on Aug. 7, 1917 in Uniontown to Theodore and Hattie Mitchell Grundy. GARY D. GREER - 53 of Uniontown died Wed. Oct. 6,1999 at the Hazard Medical Center in Hazard, KY. Survived by his wife Cheryl Blake Greer of Viper, KY; formerly of Uniontown; mother Athalene Greer of IN; two daughters, Morgan Greer of Lexington, and Brittany Greer of Louisville; two sisters, Debbie Crouse of Coal City WVA., and Judy Harcher of Refield, KS. Graveside services were held on Fri. Oct. 8, 1999 at St. Agnes Cemetery in Uniontown. Mr. Greer was born Mar. 21, 1946 in Beckley, WVA to Athalene Meadows Greer and the late Carl Lee Greer. WAFORD FRANKLIN SPEAR - 73 of Clay formerly of Harlingen, TX, died on Tues. Oct 5, 1999 at the Community Methodist Hospital in Henderson. Survived by his wife Leona Spear of Harlingen, TX; two daughters, Pattye Hanor of Clay, KY and Mary K. Services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Church of God of Prophecy in Morganfield with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield. LAWRENCE CLUNIE - 67 of Morganfield died Sat. Oct 16, at the Morganfield Nursing and Rehabilitiation Center. He attended First Baptist Church in Morganfield, was a US Navy Veteran, manager of Twin Lakes Angus Cattle Farm and a retired coal miner from Peabody Camp 11. Survived by his wife, Virginia; one daughter and son in law, Debbra nad Richard Hill of Morganfield; a son and daughter in law, Mark and Masa Clunie of Sullivan; one sister, Clara Traughber of Corydon, IN; one brother, Fred Clunie of Corydon, IN and two grandchildren, Jeremy Hill & Amber Hill. Services were Tues afternoon at Whitsell Funeral Home with burial in Boxville Cemetery in Union County. MAUDE NIXON - 75 of Waverly died Sun. Oct. 17 at Methodist Hospital in Henderson. Survived by her husband of 53 years, Roy B. Nixon; two daughters and son in laws, Ginger & Mike Carrier of Waverly, and Penny & Danny Moore of Wheatcroft; two sisters, Willie Pearl Outlaw of Warran, AR., and Agnes Haskins of Hopkinsville, KY; one granddaughter Erin Lee Carrier. Services were held Tuesday at Whitsell Funeral Home with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield. ORDIS LYNN MEADOWS - 71 year old resident of Sturgis, died Mon, Oct. 18 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. Preceded in death by a sister Helen Owen of Lincoln, KS; a brother, Louis Meadows of Clay; and his mother, Virgie Thompson of Sturgis. Survived by two daughters, Cindy Meadows & Cheryl Neaufelt of San Antonio, TX; a son, Gary of Kankakee, IL; four sisters, Jennie Nelson of Sturgis, Fredia Neal of Grangertown, Margaret Blackburn of Dekoven, and Sue Feldman of Watseka, IL; a brother Ernest of Sturgis; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Services were held no Thursday at Whitsell Funeral Home with burial in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis.
