Obits on page 2. JEREMY PATE Jeremy Pate, 14, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1998 at 7:22pm at the Union County Methodist Hospital from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He is survived by his father William Pate of Owensboro, his mother, Chris Estes of Owensboro, a sister, Abbie Estes of Owensboro, a brother Bobby Pate of Owensboro, grandmother Barbara Williamson of Morganfield, maternal great grandmother Evelyn Hazelwood of Owensboro. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Bill Pate in 1977, grandfather Albert Estes in 1980 and grandmother Dorothy Estes in 1971. Services were held Saturday at Whitsell's Funeral Home in Morganfield with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens - Owensboro. HELEN WADDELL Helen Waddell, 54, of Benton, KY, died Aug. 29, at Lourdes Hospital in Padacah. She is survived by her husband, Charles (Frankie) Waddell of Benton, a daughter, Tammy Peeler of Benton, a son, Timmy Waddell of Benton, her mother, Evelyn Nelson of Henderson, KY, 5 sisters, Isabell Wright of Sturgis, Donna Owens and Carolyn Cook, both of Henderson, Judy Musser of Uniontown, and Mary Brown of Dixon, 3 brothers, Charles Nelson and Truman Nelson both of Henderson, KY, and William Nelsno of Evansville, IN., 1 grandchild, Miranda Peeler of Benton, several nieces and nephews. Mrs Waddell was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and was employed at the Majestic Steak House in Draffenville, KY. Services were held on Tuesday at Whistell Funeral Home in Sturgis with burial in the Pythian Ridge Cemetery. Rev. A. G. Winters officiated. JOSEPH D. TAPP Joseph D. Tapp, 76, of Uniontown, died Friday, Aug. 28, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. He was a World War II Vertaran. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Sheilia Risinger and Rebecca Tapp. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Betty; five daughters, Betty Davis of Morganfield, Karen White of Evansville, and Zona Overfield, Mary Ellen McCollough and Tammy Baron all of Uniontown; one son, Danny Joe Tapp of Sturgis; 18 grandchildren and 0 great grandchildren. Services were Sunday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield. Brother Dwight Jackson officiated. Burial was in the Uniontown City Cemetery. BERT SNODGRASS Bert Snodgrass, 85, of Morganfield, died Thursday, September 3, at Union County Methodist Hospital. He was a member of Whispering Meadows Baptist Church. He was also formerly employed at Mason-Waller Chevrolet Garage, Davis Ford Garage, Alan's Body Shop, all in Morganfield. Survivors include his wife Thelma; three daughters, Lula May Royster of Henderson, Wanda Graham of Eddyville and Stacy McDowell of Morganfield; one son, Gene Snodgrass of Florida; one step son, James Morrow of Morganfield; one sister, Ellen Hester of Evansville; two brothers, Ehrman Snodgrass of Evansville and Darvis Snodgrass of Livermore; grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services were Saturday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield with burial in Baker Cemetery in Crittenden County. BONNIE R. WOODY Bonnie R. Woody, 87, of Louisville, formerly of Crittenden County, died on Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Masonic Home in Louisville, of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents Bonnie Woody and Alpha Ray (Franklin) Woody. She is survived by a son, David Bogart of Caro, MI., and a brother, Miles Woody of Louisville. Services were held Tuesday, in Louisville with the Rev. Laura Lemley officiating, interment in Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville. EVELYN MAY JACKSON Evelyn Mae Jackson, 78, of Eddyville died Wednesday at the Hill Top Nursing Home in Kuttawa, KY. She was born Aug. 26, 1920 the daughter of the late Burley adn Marie Tapp Brown. Her husband, Walter Jackson, preceded her in death in 1971. She was a member of the Cumberland Presybterian Church in Sturgis,KY. Survivors include 1 step daughter, Lucy Brooks of Evansville, 2 sisters, Mary Lou Henry of Sturgis and Edith Bumpus of Uniontown. 5 granddaughters, Doris Price of Eddyville, Nana Barnhill, Ramona Barnett and Donna Barnett, all of Sturgis, and Katrina Barnett of Eddyville, 2 grandsons, Charles Barnett and Wayne Barnett, both of Sturgis, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. William Greenwell officiating. Burial was in the Presbyterian Cemetery. Mason and Son's Funeral Home in Madisonville was in charge of arrangements. MARY E. BOHRER Mary E. Bohrer, 72, of Marion, died Saturday Sept. 12, at Intensiva Hospital in Evansville. She was affliated with the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband, Walter L; two daughters, Marilyn S. McCabe of St. Louis and Yolanda Faye Bennett fo Lobelville, TN; one son, Charles A of Lobelville; three sisters, Faye Long of Evansville, Peggy Hurst of Huntsville, AL, and Judy Burton of Diamond, KY; two brothers, JD Hill of Sturgis and Wesley of Providence; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Services were Tuesday at Townsend-Jones Funeral Homes in Providence. The Rev. Robert Phillips officiated. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery in Webster County. ASAHEL P. SAVAGE Ashahel P. Savage, 102 of Morganfield, died Monday Sept. 14, at the Union County Methodist Hospital. Mrs. Savage was preceded in death by her husband, A. Grey Savage in 1990, and her daughter Louise B. Savage in 1979. Surviving is a son, Logan Savage of Orange Park, Florida. Funeral Services will be Friday at 10am at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield with Rev. Sam Gilkey officiating. Visitation will be from 6pm until 9pm Thursday and from 9am until service time Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Morganfield. Mrs. Savage was a member of the Episcopal Church and an antique dealer in Morganfield for many years. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. CATHARINE OMER Catherine Omer, 85, of Sturgis, died Friday at the Senior Citizen Nursing Home in Madisonville. Mrs. Omer was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Omer in 1994; and two sons, Billy Joe in 1940 and David in 1992. Survivors include 4 daughters, Eleanor Kessler of Sidney, OH., June Flint and Brenda Stevens, both of Sturgis, and Deanna Ford of Newburgh, IN; 3 sons, Richard Omer of Richmond, KY, Roger Omer of North Ridge, CA., and Robert Omer of Madisonville, KY; 1 sister, Virginia Certain of Morganfield. Mrs. Omer was born on October 4, 1912 to Mary Nash and Robertson Campbell of Crittenden County. Services were Friday at the Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis with Bro. Daniel Askew and Bro. Sam Belo officiating. Burial was in the Old Bethal Cemetery in Sturgis. Mrs. Omer was a homemaker and a member of Sturgis Church of Christ. Memorial contributions may be made to Child Place Charity or the charity of your choice. TERRY BROWN Terry Wayne Brown, 19, died Saturday afternoon at Henderson Community Methodist Hospital. He had been ill with a brain tumor. He was a student at Madisonville North Hopkins High School and was a member of Rabbit Ridge Full Gospel Church. Surviving are his parents, Helen and Jerry Brown of Providence; two sisters, Samantha Davis and Kattie Harmon, both of Clay; a brother, William of Providence; grandparents Lois and Ed Mitchell and Callie Brown; and a niece and nephews. Services were Tuesday at Melton Funeral Home in Providence with burial in Lakeview Cemetery. VIRGINIA ODOM Virginia L. Odom, 84, of Evansville, formerly of Morganfield, died Saturday at noon at Brentwood Nursing Home. She was a member of the Morganfield First Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Jesse J. of Evansville; two sisters, Ruth Pickard Herndon of Evansville and Lois Mitchell of Louisville; two brothers, Casey Goben of Morganfield and Robert Goben of Henderson; and a granddaughter, Sibel Marie Odom. Services were Monday, at Whitsell Funeral Hoe in Morganfield with the Rev. Mark Galloway officiating. Burial was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield.
