I Benjamin Bishop of Union County, Kentucky being in a low stait of health, but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God for his blessing calling to mind the mortallity of my body knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make ordain and constitute this my last will and testament. First and principally I recommend my soul to God that gave it and my body to the grave to be buried in a decent and Christian manner and as to my little worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life I will and dispose of in the following manner viz - I give and bequeath to my dearly beloved wife Sally Bishop all my stock of every kind together with all my household and kitchen furniture farming ?????tials and all the money that may be on hand or due to me in any way whatever also my still and black smith tools for purposed hear after mentioned. It is my will and desire that the still and tools aforesaid shall be sold at the discretion of my wife and the money arising from the sail be added to the money on hand and the money that is due me and after paying all my just debts the balance to be applied to the use of purchasing a plantation or tract of land for the purpose of a home for herself and family which she is to injoy during her life or widowhood at which time it is bo be equally divided among all my children viz - Isaac, Purnell, Polly Springer, John, Henry, Sally, Peggy, Thomas and Ann - also I leave to my wife my negro girl named Gatte(?) To be hers during her life or widowhood at which time she is to be sold with her increase if any and the money equally divided among all my children above mentioned. Secondly I leave to my daughter Polly Springer my nebro boy named Peter to her & her heirs forever. Thirdly I leave to my daughter Sally my negro boy named Sam to her and her heirs forever. Fourthly I leave to my daughter Peggy my negro boy named Noah to her and her heirs forever. Fifthly I leave to my daughter Ann my negro boy named Littleton to her and her heirs forever. Sixthly I nominate and appoint my wife Sally Bishop exetrix and James Townsend executor to this my last will and testament. Seventhly it is my and desire that the negro boy Littleton that I have left to my daughter Ann also the boy Noah thats left to my daughter Peggy both shall remain in possession of my wife for the space of four years after my death for the purpose of helping her to settle her on the place she is to purchase and assisting in the maintaining the family ??. Eighthly and lastly it is my will that if the money that is due me should be sufficient to purchase a place without the price of my smith tools and still in that case the proceeds of the said of these is to be applied to the purpose of schooling and raising my children and for such other purposes that my wife may think most advisable in her descretion.
