FARR, farmer and stock-raiser, was born January 1, 1844, in Ray Township, this county, and is the sixth of twelve children born to Jefferson and Sarah (MILLER) FARR, natives of Kentucky and of English descent. Thomas was reared to farming, but attended school during the winter seasons. April, 1862, he enlisted in Company Thirty-third Indiana Regiment, during which service he was promoted to be Sergeant, and took part at Thompson’s Station (where he was captured and afterward confined in Libby Prison for nineteen days) Murfeesboro, Resaca, Peach Tree Creek, Atlanta and the march to the sea; he was discharged May, 1865. March 20, 1866, he married Susan, daughter of Martin and Sarah GOBLE, to which union were born six children - Howard, Susan C., Jefferson V., Thaettie, Julia A. and Willard N. (deceased March 15, 1883). Mr. FARR has a good farm of 540 acres, supplied with stock and well improved, making alike a comfortable home and valuable property, almost all of which is the result of his wise administration and honest industry, thus marking his life a success. He is a Republican in political faith and has served two terms as Township Trustee. Mrs. FARR is a member of the Baptist Church.
