HUBBARD, including WEDDEL, TWOMEY James HUBBARD is a native of this county, was born May 28, 1838, and is the youngest of eleven children of John and Nancy (WEDDEL) HUBBARD; the former a native of North Carolina, the latter of Virginia, and respectively of German and English extraction. Our subject was reared on a farm and had but very spare advantages for education. He resided with his parents until October 7, 1859, at which period he married Indiana TWOMEY, of Brown County, which union was productive of five children - Laura A., Elmira C., James A., William T. (deceased) and Virginia; Mrs. HUBBARD died November, 1872; and October 10, 1873, he wedded Mary Jane WEDDEL, of this county, but a native of Kentucky, and by this union came into the world five children, of which number four are living - Belzora E., Mary E., Clara I. and Ada J. In 1863, Mr. HUBBARD was in the service at Indianapolis for three months. He has a good home and farm; has the respect of his community, and is in politics a member of the National party.
