Paxton, was born in Haddon Township where he now lives September 21, 1844, one of seven children born to Isaac R. and Mary A. (Land) Lamb, who came to Sullivan County from Kentucky at an early day. Subject received the ordinary education of the common schools, working in summer and going to school in winter. April 15, 1869, he was married to Margaret Arnett, who was the mother of three children--Ellena, born February 23, 1870; and Margaret and James (twins) born March 6, 1872. James is now dead. March 10, 1872, two weeks after the birth of her twins, Mrs. Lamb died. She was a member of the Christian Church. Mr. Lamb also belongs to the same church, and always does his share toward sustaining all matters for the public good. He began doing for himself at the age of twenty-one, and now owns seventy acres of finely improved land.
