Court Order Book 1 Written: October 2, 1798 Session of 2 Oct 1798. Present: Gladin GORIN, John MARHSALL & William SMITH. Deed between Edward RICE and Christopher DICKIN proven by oath of James AMOS. Same between John SLAYTON and Peter TAYLOR. Inventory and appraisal of estate of Andrew ALEXANDER returned. Ordered that Joseph BURLESON, John BURLESON, William BARKER and George GREEN view for a road from the courthouse to Thomas CHAPMAN's and make report. Mill viewing for Charles LUCAS returned, an acre of land laid off; found $1.00 in damages. Land included a cave where the mill is to be built. Viewers included: Samuel COX, William ANDERSON, John BEARDIN, John PASE [Pace?], Lewis TACKITT?, John BUTLER, Solomon ANDERSON, Jonathan HOLCOMB, William COX, John BUTLER Jr, James BELL, Jonathan INGRAM. Road report from John ROBERTSON's in the Blue Spring Grove to the Elk Lick ... started at John ROBERTSON,runs with MURREY's road to the Spring Lick, along the old road to the Three Spring Grove through David WALKER's land, along the old road to Robert STEPHENSON's road, then to Michael CAMPBELL's between his and Daniel WILLIAMS, then to the SIDEBOTTOM's to the county line at the Elk Lick. Viewed by Henry and William RENNICK and Fredrick SCAGGS. Another road cited from the Logan Co courthouse to the Knoxville Road. Andrew McWILLIAMS appt. surveyor of the road. Another road from about 1 mile below William MARR's to the county line below James TYGERS. Those involved in the latter included James HALL, Wm MAXEY, George FRAYZER, John SHANNON (by the black lick), Burwell JACKSON. Thomas MONIE allowed to keep a tavern at his house in the county with Robert COLMAN his security. Power of attorney between Will COTWELL and Havilah CRUMP. John ROBERTSON allowed to keep a tavern at his house in the county; John JEMISON his security. John JIMISON allowed same with John ROBERTSON his security. John McNEEL Sr exempt from paying county levy in the future. Road report from LEE's Ferry on the Green River to John ROBERTSON's; intersecting Beaver Creek. John BURKS, John GOFF, John ROTON signed and road approved. John ADGER appt surveyor. Joseph RAUBSTON [RALSTON] to handle part near Robert WALLACE's old place to Fort Blund - then to Peters Creek; William RUSSEL from Peters Creek to the mouth of Indian Creek; Robert JOHNSTON & Hugh BROWN mentioned.
