OBITUARY: CHERRY, G. W. - Warren County, Kentucky Date: 29 August 2003 Submitted by Martha Lamkin, Email Registry ID# http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00005.html#0001235 NOTE: This obituary column, cut from newspapers of the time period, was found pasted in an ancient dust-covered book at a yard sale I attended in Louisville KY. I'm posting them verbatim in the hopes they will benefit others. I have no further information and have no connection to any of these names. I have no additional information on dates, or about which newspapers the original columns were in or the year of publication. G. W. CHERRY, WHO PASSED AWAY AT NOON TO-DAY. BURIAL TO-MORROW. The sad intelligence of the death of G. W. CHERRY reached the city this afternoon, and it will be learned with deep regret throughout the country. The funeral services will be held at Hall's Chapel at 4 o'clock to-morrow afternoon, and the burial will take place in the church yard. G. W. CHERRY died in his 99th year. He was one of the early settlers of this section, and a man highly beloved by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife and eight children, Prof. T. C., Isaac, Bailey, and Prof. H. H. CHERRY, of Bowling Green, and George Cherry, of Colorado; Rev. J. T. CHERRY, of Calhoun; J. W. CHERRY, of Atlanta, and Redford CHERRY, of Bardstown. The deceased was stricken with paralysis a few days ago, and owing to his advanced age it was thought that he could not rally, and he remained in a semi-conscious condition until the end came about noon to-day. Mr. CHERRY was a man of most kindly nature, a loving and kind father, ever watchful over the large family of boys he reared, until they grew into real manhood and lives of usefulness. He was a man of plain tastes, preferring the simple life to the more strenuous city exertions, and his whole life was spent upon the farm. He was loved, honored and esteemed by his children, whose every thought was for their parents. In their bereavement they have the united sympathy of their hundreds of friends. ------------------------------ USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free genealogical information on the Internet, data may be freely used for personal research and by non-commercial entities as long as this message remains on all copied material.
