I'm posting them verbatim in the hopes they will benefit others. I have no further information and have no connection to any of these names. I have no additional information on dates, or about which newspapers the original columns were in or the year of publication. <> CLOTHES BURNED AND ODOR OF COOKED FLESH NAUSEATING WHEN DISCOVERED A horrible death came to Mrs. Eliza MILLER, aged about fifty years, wife of Aaron MILLER of the White Stone Quarry, when she fell into a fire on the premises and was burned to death. The charred body of the woman was first discovered by the 15-year-old daughter, Bessie MILLER. When found the dead woman lay across the smouldering embers of the fire, and the odor of burning flesh was easily detected. The woman's body was burned almost to a crisp. Realizing the awfulness of the situation, the young girl's strength failed her in an effort to remove the body from the fire, and she screamed for help. The father, Aaron MILLER, working in a near-by field, heard the cry and rushed to the house. With the assistance of his daughter he lifted the woman to a couch. She was unconscious when found, and remained in a comatose condition until death relieved her suffering at 11 o'clock this morning, an hour after the accident. For a number of years Mrs. MILLER has been afflicted with epilepsy. At the time she was ironing beneath an oak tree in the yard on the premises. The accident was not witnessed by anyone, but it is presumed that while stooping over the fire to obtain a hot iron, she was suddenly attacked with her ailment and fell senseless into the hot coals. She undoubtedly had lain prostrate across the fire for several minutes, as the woman's clothing was burned entirely from her flesh when discovered, and her flesh was cooked until the stench from cooked human flesh was nauseating. Mrs. MILLER comes of one of the best families in Warren county. She was a daughter of Mr. Claiborne MASON, of the White Stone Quarry neighborhood. Besides her husband, she leaves five children - - Virgil, Vernon, Claiborne, and Bessie MILLER, and Mrs. William STEWART. The burial will take place Friday morning from the residence. ------------------------------ USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free genealogical information on the Internet, data may be freely used for personal research and by non-commercial entities as long as this message remains on all copied material.
