Deed Bk C, p 58, 59 Brown; Cocke; Mance [Hance ?]; Bailey; Caldwell Agreement – Daniel Brown; Richard Cocke Articles of Agreement entered into this 21st day of February in the Year 1804 between Daniel Brown of the one part and Richard Cook of the other part now these presents witnesseth that he the Sd Daniel Brown hath ___ day bargained and Sold to him the said Richard Cook fourteen hundred acres of land Situated lying and being on Cartwrights Creek in the County of Washington & Surveyed and patented in three several tracts which are bounded and abutted as followeth to wit one tract of 400 as follows Beginning at a double ash and sugartree on a ridge thence South fifteen degrees east two hundred poles to a hickory locus & sugartree North Seventy five degrees East three hundred and twenty poles to a ____ing black oak sugartree and ash tree near a branch North fifteen degrees East two hundred poles to a hoop ash and walnut tree on the west side of a hill thence South Seventy five degrees west three hundred & twenty poles to the Beginning also one other tract of Seven hundred acres as follows Beginning at two sugartrees and walnut tree thence South fifteen degrees east three hundred and fifty poles to a white oak and hickory near a Valley thence North seventy five degrees East three hundred and twenty poles to a sugartree and a white oak & mulberry tree thence North fifteen degrees west three hundred & fifty poles to a large white oak & ash tree thence South twenty five degrees west three hundred & twenty poles to the Beginning also one other tract of three hundred acres as follows Beginning at a locust Sugar & ___ trees thence South fifteen degrees east one hundred & fifty poles to a white oak sugar tree & hickory thence North Seventy five degrees East three hundred & twenty poles to two Sugartrees on the side of a hill thence North fifteen degrees West one hundred and fifty poles to a stooping black oak ash and sugartree on the East Side of a brance that runs with Carthwright Creek thence South Seventy five degrees West three hundred & twenty poles to the Beginning and which said three surveys amounts to and includes the aforesaid quanity of fourteen hundred acres of land for which he the said Cock is to pay him the said Brown the Sum of Twenty five hundred dollars in Petersburgh Virginia on the tenth day of June next ensuing the date of these presents and he the said Daniel Brown for himself his heirs Executors and Administrators doth Covenant Grant and agree to and with him the said Richard Cock his heirs Executors & Adnors. And assigns that he the said Daniel Brown will on the tenth day of June next ensuing the date of these presents at Brewers Tavern in Petersburgh in Virginia convey the aforesaid several tracts of land to him the Sd. Richard Cock in fee simple by Deed with A covenant of warranty against him the Sd. Daniel Brown his heirs Executors & all and every other person or Persons claiming by through or under him or them or either of them but not from any other person what Ever and he the said Richard Cocke for himself his heirs Exors. And Admors. Doth Covenant Grant and Agree to and with him the Sd. Daniel Brown his heirs Exors. and Adnors. & assigns that he the said Richard Cocke will on the aforesaid tenth day of June next pay to him the said Daniel Brown or his agent the aforesaid sum of Twenty five Hundred Dollars immediately after he the said Daniel Brown shall Execute and deliver a deed of Conveyance for the Land aforesaid in the manner and for aforesd. to his the Sd Cocke In Witness whereof the parties to these presents have set their hands and affixed their Seals the day and Year above mentioned.
