KY Deed Bk C, p 42, 43 Johnston to Brown This Indenture made this 6th day of January in the year Eighteen hundred & four Between Charles JOHNSTON of Scott County & state of Kentucky and John LANDERS of Washington County & State aforesaid both of the above named men JOHNSTON and LANDERS of the one part & Alexander BROWN of Washington County and State aforesaid of the other Witnesseth that the said Charles JOHNSTON and John LANDERS for the Consideration of Sixty one pounds in property to them in hand paid by Alexander BROWN the receipt whereof the said JOHNSTON and LANDERS doth hereby acknowledged Release Acquit and discharge the said Alexander BROWN his heirs and assigns Charles JOHNSTON and John LANDERS hath Granted Bargained and sold unto Alexander BROWN his heirs & assigns a tract of land lying in Washington County on the Head of the Beach fork of Salt river Containing one hundred and ten acres more or less ajoining the tract of land Henry LANDERS now lives on and bounded as follows, to wit. Beginning at a spanis oak and two hickory running thence north Eighty East Seventy four poles to a popar and dogwood thence North ten degrees west two hundred and thirty eight poles to a sugar tree & poplar thence South eighty degrees west Seventy four poles to two Chestnuts trees thence South ten degrees east two hundred and thirty eight poles to the beginning and all the estate right title and interest of Charles JOHNSTON and John LANDERS of in and __ the said premises to have and to hold the above mentioned one hundred and ten acres of land to Alexander BROWN his heirs & assigns forever & the said JOHNSTON & LANDERS their heirs and assigns doth hereby only warrant and defend from them Selves and their heirs the title of the above mentioned tract of one hundred & ten acres of land to Alexander BROWN his heirs & assigns now if the above mentioned tone hundred and ten acres of land Should at a futer day be takin from sd. BROWN or his heirs or assigns by a prior Claim in that case Charles JOHNSTON & John LANDERS their heirs and assigns shall pay back to Alexander BROWN Sixty one pounds Kentucky Currency to be paid ___horse flesh at the Valuation of two men in Witness whereof the said Charles JOHNSTON and John LANDERS hath hereunto Set their hands & Seals the day & Year above Written.
