Deed Bk C, p 28' Deposition PRATHER; McNEAL; SWAN; PRITCHET; WILSON; SWEARGIN; LAWLIS; CROSS; McMURRAY; WASHBOURN; GRUNDY The Deposition of Henry PRATHER taken to perpetuate testimony and establish the Cals of an Entrey of 1000 acres of land in the name of Thomas McNEAL and Elizabeth his wife acting Executor of John SWAN Deceased this Deponent Being sworn deposeth and says that he was hear in the year 1776 in the last of May or the first of June on Compenies with Isaac PRICHET Thomas WILSON Richard SWAN can [underlined and Van written above] SWEARGIN James WILSON and others we Camped in this Bottin about a half mile from this place near the Bank of the rowing fork below a Cabin now in the Possession of Benjamin LAWLIS we divide into two Companys my self John CROSS and I believes James WILSON and Isaac PRITCHET we come to this place and Bilt a Cabin within thirty feet of this ash tree and I rote one on the Companys names on this tree with read lead and the date of the Year and when we dru lots of the Cabbins that was built by the Compeney I Believe that Richard SWAN drew this Cabbin Question by John ____ one of the heirs of Richard SWAN did You ever understand wheather Richard SWAN drew this Cabbin for himself or for some other person Answer I don’t now Question by the same do you now have _____ Cabbins Richard SWAN amswer twp Question by Benjamin LAWLESS have you ever saw this PLACE SINCE May of June 1776 answer now till this day Question By the Same what makes You certain this is the place answer in the first place from seeing the plane whear we Camped and the Second from the narrowers on the South fork and also a white oak hill Just above there for mentioned ash tree Question by John McMURRAY did you or the company intend to hole land on the South side of the South fork by the improvement answer I don’t now Question by Benjamin LAWLISS did You ever ____ of any buffalow rodes that crossed the roling fork near this place answer I believe there was one that Crossed near whare we camped on sd. Fork above Mentioned This Deponent further sayeth not Henry Prather The above deposition was taken at the above mentioned Improvement this 1st day of October 1802 in the presence of Charles DYER and John REED by us Compt. Philip WASHBOURN John GRUNDY We Certify that the above mentioned Improvement is about half way Between the ford of the roling fork where a Cabin Stands in the possession of Benjamin LAWLESS & the first narrows on the south fork & at the East side of a Bottom under the Bluff of the hill or riseing Ground and about ten yards from a stall drean and on the south side of said drean and that near said drean we marked a small honey locust thus P W I G Philip Washburn John Grundy Washington Sct.
