Earl Ruby, 65, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at 6:30 Friday evening, May 15, 1959, at his home in Mackville. He previously suffered a seizure and was hospitalized for a time. Surviving Mr. Ruby are his widow, Mrs. Euriah Bottoms Ruby; a brother, Dewey Ruby, Mackville; a sister, Mrs. Willie Hieatt, Louisville, and two nieces. The funeral was held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at the Mackville Church of Christ, the minister, Bro. Frank Mullins, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. R.M. Gabbert of the Mackville Baptist Church. Burial followed in Peter Cemetery there. Pallbearers were Jim Powell, Bryant Darling, Don Rogers, Hirshell Pinkston, Roy Gabhart and Sam Russell. Mr. Ruby was prepared at and rested in the Arnold Funeral Home until time for burial. Few men in the Mackville community were more widely known or liked than Mr. Ruby. He had been a carpenter-contractor there many years and few improvements in that community were made without his assistance. He also was active in church and civic affairs of his community. RUBY Mrs. Urah Bottoms Ruby, 80, widow of the late Earl Ruby, of Mackville, died at 8 o’clock Friday night, Feb. 25 [1977] at Elliott’s Health Care Center. She was a daughter of the late James and Zuna Yankey Bottoms, and was a retired Mackville school teacher. A member of the Mackville Baptist Church, she was a Sunday School teacher there for many years. Mrs. Ruby is survived by a nephew, Wathan Bottoms of Bardstown and several cousins. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Feb. 27 at the Arnold Funeral Home, Mackville, by the Rev. John Penning-ton. Burial was in Peter Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dudley Thompson, Emmitt Devine, Elmer Smith, Mitchell Burns, Will Christerson and Harvey Bishop MR. RUBY Mr. W.A. Ruby, 71 years old, former Washington County man, died suddenly at seven o’clock Tuesday morning at the Central State Hospital of a heart attack. He previously had been in his usual state of health and no thought of death had been entertained. Mr. Ruby’s body was brought to Mackville Tuesday afternoon and prepared for burial. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church at Mackville at 2:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. George Schnell preaching the sermon. Interment was in Peter Cemetery there. Mr. Ruby was the last member of his immediate family, for many years prominently known in this county. [Archivist's note: This is the obituary of William Allen Ruby, aka "Denk" and "Dick."
