The church was formed in 1804, but a horrible fire destroyed the records from 1804-1892 at the church clerk's home. We do know that the church was formed 8th January 1804. The first church burned and in 1853 the present church building was built. The history of the original church includes Thomas Small, John Dick, Sr. and John Dick, Jr., George Rogers, Thomas Dodson, Isham Burnett, and Richard Barrier, who was the first minister.
