She was born in Ritner, Kentucky on December 3, 1906, the daughter of Ulysas S. Grant Abbott and Celia Isabel Jones Abbott. Both parents preceded her in death. She married William Theodore Branscum, who preceded her in death. She is survived by five children Charlotte Pierce of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Clarence Branscum of Smithtown, Kentucky, Thomas Lenville Branscum of Strunk, Kentucky, Rev. Leamon Branscum of Sidney, Ohio and Roger Branscum of Worley Hill Top, Kentucky; 21 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and one sister Ludy Turner of Cincinnati, Ohio. Preceding her in death are three children Della Crowder, Fares Vincent Branscum and Billy Dan Branscum; three brothers Theo, Oscar, and Noble Abbott; three sisters Minnie Lee Abbott, Nova Abbott, and Melinda Meadows; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was a homemaker and joined the Pleasant Rock United Baptist Church in Smithtown, Kentucky on or about the year of 1933. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 29, 1998 at the Pleasant Rock United Baptist Church with Brother Lenville Maxwell, Brother Randall Meadows, Brother Roscoe Spradlin, and Brother Henry Cox officiating. Burial was in Hickman Cemetery at Hill Top, Kentucky.
