BARNETT Nov. 4, 1915-April 8, 1995 BROWNSTOWN - Melvin Estel Barnett, 79, Brownstown, died at 11:25 p.m. Saturday at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown after a lengthy illness. Born in Monticello, Ky., he was the son of Charles Harrison and Mary Abbey (Smith) Barnett. He married Pauline Gholson Feb.8, 1933 in Monticello, Ky., and she survives. He had been a foreman at the C. H. Marsh Lumber Co. in Indianapolis, where he worked 28 years. He also worked for four years with American Aggregate in Indianapolis, retiring in 1978. Surviving with his wife are four sons: Harlan Barnett of Springfield, Ill., Morris Barnett and Merle Barnett, both of Seymour and Kenny Barnett of Martinsville; one daughter, Doris Oathout of Brownstown; three brothers: Willard Barnett of Brownstown, Bob Barnett of Bedford and Wes Barnett of Columbus; six sisters: Ina Lynch of Indianapolis, Emma Guffey of Inverness, Fla., Anna Ruth Porter, Juanita Holman, Arlene Gray and Shirley York, all of Brownstown; 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, and one great-grandchild. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Brownstown, with the Rev. Glenn E. Seaman officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Brownstown Pentecostal Church.
