She was born in Keeton Hollow Community of Wayne County, Kentucky on July 31, 1925, the daughter of Tom and Sarah Ethel Martin Rigney. Both parents preceded her in death. She married Charlie Owen Whitehead, who preceded her in death on January 3, 1969. She is survived by five children Mary Burnett, Irene Dodson, and John Whitehead all of Monticello, Kentucky, Ermon Whitehead of Kimmell, Indiana, and Connie Byrket of Cromwell, Indiana; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one step great grandchild; two sisters Pearly Jenkins and Lula Guinn; two brothers Ray and Robert Rigney and a host of other relatives. Preceding her in death is one daughter Josephine, who passed away in infancy in 1950. She had accepted Christ as her Savior and was a lifelong member of the Big Springs Baptist Church. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 10, 1998 in the funeral home chapel with Brother Jimmie Decker and Brother Dewey Burks officiating, burial was in the Ingram Cemetery. Hoyt G. Hickey & Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. PERSONAL NOTE ON MRS. WHITEHEAD: FROM LISA L. L. Mrs. Whitehead lived next door to my grandmother Goldie May Holder Parnell in the Beech Valley Manor Senior Apartments. Mrs. Whitehead's brother Robert Rigney is my uncle. He married my father's sister Anna Lee Dobbs Rigney. Mrs. Whitehead died from cancer. She became ill and was in the Wayne County Hospital for about 2 to 3 weeks before her death.
