Anyway, This is Elijah Franklin Shelton, s/o Benjamin Franklin Shelton
and Elizabeth Ann Sigler. Mrs. M. A. is Margaret Ann Oglesby, d/o
Gustavas Adolphus Oglesby and Mary Elizabeth Shelton. Benjamin and Mary
Shelton are probably cousins because Elijah is my 3rd cousin 3 times
removed, and Margaret Ann Oglesby is my 1st cousin, 3 times removed.
They are the parents of at least 6 children. I believe that the other
entry for Geo. B. might be Elijah's brother, but I do not have a
marriage for him, so am unsure.

Wow! She's my GG-Aunt! I guess she never DID marry! I cannot place this
"niece", though. Annie is the daughter of James Aaron Thomas and Nancy
E. Ashby, his 2nd wife. They are my GG-grandparents. I do not have
parents for Nancy, but Thomas is the son of Robert Thomas, who went to
Henderson county by 1816, and he disappears on me after that. I cannot
locate him in any census records anywhere. James was born in 1806
somewhere in VA. If you can shed some light on this family - let's talk!

different wife two generations up. This is James Buford who married
Bertha Lou Majors in 1899 in KY. James father is Baron Dekalb Thomas and
his father is James Aaron Thomas, my GG-grandfather. I do not understand
the notation the census taker made concerning relationships to the head
of household such as "relative son". "Relative" seemed to be penciled in
later where it would fit above the word son. If Luther and C. W. are the
sons of a relative of James', I do not know what relative they belong
to. Any help appreciated.

This is funny. Berry's are a part of my mother's lines, but in this
instance my connection is through the wife! I suppose I couldn't read it
right as her name is Effie (Nee Melton). She is the dau. Of John Wesley
Melton and Nancy Ellen Cavanah. John is the s/o Elisha E. Melton and
Minerva Shelton. Minerva being my GGG Aunt and sister to my
GG-Grandmother, Lucinda Shelton.

As to the Berry lines, Elvis is the son of James Thomas Berry and
Rebecca Hayes. Anyone having information on James Thomas Berry and
Rebecca Hayes, I'd like to know what you have. I have a James Thomas in
my mother's lines as well. I'd like to see if this one connects back to
my Thomases somehow.
