They lived in Ozark County, Missouri.) December 29, 1873 We the undersine agree that J. O. Dayberry (3) is to own and all the property thar is in his possession of John Lively (4) estate after the Debts is paid Witness our hands and ceil this the 29 day of Dec. 1873 Mc Frasher ********************* Poole Mills, Ky. July 26th 1879 Dear Brother & sister we this day seat our selvs to try to rite you a fiew loins in anser to yore most kind and affictanated Leter which com to hand day before yesterday we ws glad to hear from you and hear you was all well this leter leaves us all well and doing well and hope thos fiew loins will find yo all in good helth I have bin vary sick and Bad off but have got up know Sow I can doo my hous work you all rote Such a long leter that we are all most at a lose to try to reply but how Sow evry we will make and effret I will in form of the Crops threw out this Surrounded Cuntry ther was fin wheat Crops threw this Cuntry generly & Corn Crops cant Bee Beat we was vary dry up tel a week agow and we have had Som of the fines rains fore the last week yon you evry Saw and Corn looks fine tobaco looks vary well Byt I have Seen tobaco Crops look beter than they doo this year I have got as fine a Corn Crop as I Evry had in my life and toleble good tobaco Sow as fore News we have Non worth Ritin ther has bin rite Smart of sickness threw this Cuntry this Sumer Such as feavers and Chills to no end an a good Many has Dide Mc toneys wife is ded and Eliga Seflers wife is ded Doctor Bethels Oldes boy is Ded and ther looking fore James Crow to dy evry Day the doctors have Don and give him out Sow I will give you the price of produce Corn worth 35 cts bacon 4-6- and 8 cts wheat from 75 to 85 cts per Bushel Coffee from 6 to 10 lbs to the dolar Sugar from 10 to 20 lbs to the dolar Molases from 30 to 50 cts per gal Sow Mack I want you to rite to us whether you think we Cold doo beter thair than hear are whether you think We Cold live thair or not Sow you may look Out this fall fore father (16) talks Strong of coming this fall Sow I will Clos by Saying the Children all Send you & the children all howdy Sow rite Soon and fail not this from John Depreist and Jane Depreist (17) to M. July 26, 179 (1879) Mc Frasher Kind sir I will anser your note of July 13th at first I will say that I wrote you a fiew days ago you wanted to know here Andy made his home he Calls Sams (18) his home although he has bin hear the best part of his Time Sam took him & his bed & cloths the day you left & Sunday he come Back & got the Rest of his things out of the house & old Red he sold his hogs to dock (19) his heifer & meat is hear he left hear 2 weeks ago & went to Sams I hav heard nothing from him I dont beleave he wanted to go to Sames but you know the King & Queen & Emperess (20) must be obeyed if the wourld Stands Still you will undestnd who I hav Refferrence to Ern Brough he things hear I hav Swore all the Time that I was commeing out this fall & Andy says he will Come with me & if I get off as I think now I will he will Come with me that was the Last word he Said when he left hear he would Be Readdy I am looking for him I sent word to him that I had got your Letter & I gess he will come if Sam will let him hav a horse to Ride in the first of the summer he wanted to go to John Depriest but Sam would not Let him have a horse Sow I hav Bin toled not By Andy But as luck would hav it he got to go without his horses you may gess who Took him it Seanees that they are a frad if he gets away from thar he might die & they woul not get what little mony he has got & Some of the Rest after thy get that would hav to Berry him While he was hear the last Time the was after him all the time to Go back he did not bring any cloths with him & had to go to the Store & bye him cloth to make him a Shirt and Said he did not hav any Well Mc the Time are about as when you left Tobacco had advanced some Wes Rarker sold his Crop for 10 & 4 & 2 & I hear that John Powell of Petersburge sold the other day for 9 from the ground up we hav a poore prspect fo a crop this Time the most of it Just leave up The hill Corn is fine one more rain & Corn wont be worth geathern that is for Sail Huldah say Tell poth & Lise & the childrenhowdy for her & says for Poth & Lise to hav that dress when she comes Tell Jo I shal expect that year of provision When I come you mus wrte soon & often & I will anse all your Letter Write What Pork & corn will be worth Jasper Well Mc Andy come over last night & Stayed all night but went back he looked as if it would nearly kill him but was a frade not to go back I wanted him to Let billy (21) go with him but he said Sam would Rare if he did not go I will write for him in a few Mc I want you to write him just what you Think about his going to Sames for he says all the Rest adavised him but you ******************** Pools Mill Ky Oct 24th 1879 Mr M. Frasher Affectionate children I now take the time to drop you a line Which is 3 Sence I got any from you at first I will say that June was the last date I have got from I anserd it Right away as to newes I have mothing of interust to write I wrote you that Uncle Benj Brown was ded We hav had a warm spell of weather sow much sow that Tobacco nearly Ruined it is moulded & Rotted hanging in the barn I will say that My Health has improved considerbe & I want to Know what is the Reason you do not write Floyed Told me you all wanted me to come out thare I wante to Know the chance of living thare but you do not write to let me know what to do Tell Poth & lise I may be thare earlyer than they expect tell the cildren Howdy Jo you must write to me if Mc wonte I would like to see you all very well I will not _________ for I do not know what to think of you not writng I will close By asking you to write yours as ever A Hamilton PS it is thought corn will be high the crop being damage sow much the children all well Huldah & Fanna say tell Poth & Lise to make them a big cotton dress A few lins from Fannie (22) and Huldy to Poth an Lise and all the rest we are all very well except Lee and the baby the baby hase the chills all the time Poth I wish you and Lise could see the baby he is the prettyist and the fatest boy you ever saw he will beat your boy all to pease he is a heavy as Lee (23) miney (Minnie) Lee ses he can talk and runn a way now Almer (24) ses to tell minny (Minnie) she is going to chool and will beat har a learning tell Lise and Jo they sed they would write but they never I wish you could come over we are a going to kill a shote Huldy ses she is coming to see you I am trying to get dock (Doc) (25) in the neiaon to go dock (Doc) ses tell Mc and Jo to writ Lise have a good diner cooked you must all write ******************** Pools Mill Ky November 23 179 (1879) M D Frasher Kind children I take pleasure in ansering yours of 9th which is the first since July 13 & was glad to hear from you all but sory to hear of you all being sick sow much but hope your days of sickness is past & health will take it place I have no general nuse to write that would interest you more than Times is hard & money scarse & evry thing low with no prospect for it to be any higher Aunt Ibby Melton died yesterday morny & will be berrid to day alsow Henry Millers wife died 2 or 3 weeks ago. Well the pople ar getting along about as useual sow for as I know all the children is well Tell Jo Poth & Lise I would like to see them very much as to my coming with Pink he has bin gone for 6 or 7 week Tell Mine (Minnie) & Malcolm (26) & Willie (27) howd for me tell Jo he must wait till I come to Marry for I want to be at the weddon & carve the Turky Well Mc I will close by asking you to write what is the prospect thare for a man to get meet & at what price write soon Yours as Ever A Hamilton Well Mc it is with a sad & Heavy hart that I write you this at first I will say that Almer died the 6 of this month with Croup after a brief illness of 48 hours her suffering being intence from the start if you will look in Ayers Almanac underhead of Croop or Rattles you will find her Disease layed down better than I can tell you Well you said you though I was coming out this fall I would of bin thare but I could not sell out for any thing but Cottingham told me the first tim Tobacco come in order he would be up to look at it & if we could agree he would bye it & Evry thing Else I had for sail if we Trad I will start Just as soon as I can get Reddy if I can not sell out I will liv with Miller next year though if ther is any chance I am comming Huldah is Takeing the death of Almer very hard she says Tell Poth & Lise Jo & the children Howdy & kiss the children for her I will close for I hav nothing to write & cant think of any thing my Troubles are greate You will Know when you loose some of yours how to simpathise Write soon giv all the nuse Yours as Ever J L & H L Crow PS Corn is worth 20 & 25 cnts wheat $1.10 Park 3 cnts Mc Excuse this Baddly writen & composed note ******************** (?)Dixie Ky July 11 1880 M D. Frasher Well Mc I will anser your not at first I will say I have no newes of importance to write Times ar dull the weathrs warm we hav had fine Rains for a week past the ground Just now in plow order Crops look Tolerble will Wheat was sorry You said in yor last letter that you had not got no aneser to your letters to Andy he Recnd them & I wrte Back for him & he taken it to Pool Town & said he mailed it & I supou you hav Received it long be fore now but I will writ you some of what you wanted to know he Calls Sams home & all of his things is thare he still has Old Red he has bin offered $35 for her but is afrade to sell her for fear he will make Sam & Sarah mad I sold his hiefer for $25 & John Dayberry & Hanna saw me pay him the money Sarah Told Huldah that Andy was so contary she could hardy put up with him when he comes down hear he walks unless some of us happenes up thare & Bring him you may think I am liny about it but if you dont beleve it write to Mandy (28) she can tell you he is well & says for you to wrte often Well all the connection is well but John Depriest is verry low with Typhoid fever with littel hope of his getting well I will write you again as soon as he Takes a change Well I have wrote you all the news that I know I forgot John Snider has got a store at Dixie & selles Whiskey Hulda say kiss childre for her Tell Jo he nead not be surprised at any thing he may see be tween now & Christmas J L Crow ************************ FOOTNOTES: ( 1) Mack Donald Frazier was the son of Alexander Frazier and Mary C.
