Webster Co KY Confederate Pensioners

Kentucky did not grant Confederate pensions until 1912, when
the Confederate Pension Act created a state board to determine
which applicants were eligible.  The following guidelines were
required in order to receive benefits:

1.  Applicant must have served at least one year unless he
    had received an honorable discharge before that time expired.

2.  Must have been a resident of KY since 1907.

3.  Unable to support himself by his own means.

4.  Could not have been absent from KY for more than a year.

5.  Could not also receive a US pension.

6.  Annual income could not exceed $300.

7.  Applicant's property could not exceed a value of $2500.

8.  Applicant ineligible if his wife could support him.

Confederate veteran's widows were eligible if they had married
prior to 1890.

Applications were made in the county in which the applicant then
lived, but he may have actually served in a different county or
state.  Copies of the pension applications may be ordered from
the Kentucky Dept. for Libraries and Archives.
