Survivors besides the parents are a sister, Barbara, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clark, near Dixon. The body was brought Wednesday afternoon to the home of the grandparents to remain there until time for the funeral, which will be held today in Little Zion church. Burial will be in Little Zion cemetery. PFC Earl Blades Home On Leave, Drowns In Lake Pfc. Arthur Earl Blades, 18, was drowned at 1:30 Sunday afternoon while swimming in Shamrock Lake. Companions presumed that he suffered cramps, since he was an experienced swimmer. The water was approximately ten feet deep. His body was recovered about 30 minutes later by J.D. Wright and artificial respiration was administered for two and a quarter hours in an attempt to revive him, but these efforts were futile. The youth, stationed at Chanute Field, Ill., was on his first furlough since entering the army last December. Survivors are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. D.T. Blades, Providence; three sisters, Mrs. William Dunn and Miss Georgia Blades, Evansville, and Miss Angeline Blaces, at home; grandfather, R.D. Andrews, Shady Grove; and great-grandfather, D.M. Sigler, Shady Grove. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Second Baptist church with the Rev. W.T. Crumbaker of Madisonville officiating. Pallbearers were D.T. Braden, Garland Rice Traylor, Dickie Durrett, Jackie Richardson, Lonnie Childers, Wayne Bryant, Edgar Tandy, jr., and J.D. Wright. Burial was in the cemetery at Shady Grove. E. H. Nolley Dies In Arizona E. H. Nolley, 52, former Diamond resident, died Friday at his home in Phoenix, Ariz. Surviving are the wife, Mrs Nannie Nolley; stepson Ralph Harmon, Columbia, Pa., three grandchildren; his father, J. E. Nolley, Pilot, Va.; two brothers Kyle Nolley, Roanoke, Va., and Clint Nolley, Pilot, Va.; and two sisters, Mrs Madalyn Conner, Pilot, Va., and Mrs Ersel Thomas, Christianburg, Va. The body arrived here Tuesday and remained at the Tapp Funeral Home in Providence until time for funeral services. Funeral was at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Diamond Baptist church, with the Rev. E.G. Sisk officiating. Pallbearers were George Braden, Ivan Mobley, Barney Eddings, Carl Cavanah, Everett Hill, and Harmon Hill. B. Hearin entertained with a lawn party at their home Friday evening honoring the third wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs Billy Bruce Hearin of Detroit, who are visiting them. There were 20 present. Lois Lively of Nortonville visited his mother, Mrs Annie Lively Friday. Mrs Archie Smith of Hopkinsville spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs W. E. Merriman of the country. Mrs Gammon Herrin and sons, Karl and Burley, of the country visited last week with her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. G. F. Phelps of Marion. Mr and Mrs Wm. M. Flenner in Cardwell's Clinic in Providence. Weight was eight and one-fourth pounds. Mrs Carmon Pullam spent the week-end at White Oak country with her mother, Mrs. Jim Daugherty. In Hospital Eddie Wilkerson, young son of Mr and Mrs Eddie Wilkerson, was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville Friday and was operated on for rupture. He is getting along nicely. Byron Lee Hobgood Mr and Mrs B. L. (Happy) Hobgood of Madisonville are the parents of a son, born June 20. He has been named Byron Lee Hobgood and weighed nine pounds. Mr and Mrs Hobgood formerly lived in Dixon whre Mr Hobgood operated a restaurant. Mr and Mrs John Ramsey and son, Johnnie, spent Sunday in Clay with Mr and Mrs R. D. Holt. Mrs Payton Puryear and daughter, Miss Polly Puryear, have returned from a visit with relatives in Guthrie. Sidney Ann Branch has returned to her home in Martins, Tenn., after a visit here and at Madisonville with relatives. Mrs Edwin Jackson spent the week-end at Martins, Tenn., with her daughter, Mrs H. E. Y. Laslie with the Rev. Laslie performing the ceremony. Mrs Billie Joe Vick was the bride's only attendant and Billie Joe Vick acted as best man for the groom. Mrs Polley is a 1947 graduate of Poole high school and Mr Polley is a 1941 graduate. He also served in the Navy during the war. Miss Louise Allen, who is taking nurse's training at the Kentucky Baptist Hospital in Louisville is spending her vacation with her father, Everett Allen and Mrs Allen. Mrs Lee Philpot received word Sunday that her daughter, Mrs James McLemore is critically ill in a Chicago hospital. Mr and Mrs Elmo Simms and daughter, Judith, returned Saturday to their home in Chicago. Mr and Mrs Eulon Sigler accompanied them as far as Evansville. Mr and Mrs R. B. Moore and daughter, Melinda, and Mrs J. S. Russell, of Evansvile, were guests of Mrs G. W. Wynn Friday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Gordon Nelums who have had an apartment in the home of Mrs. B. D. Robards, have moved to the home of her mother, Mrs Raymond Vaughn. Mr and Mrs A. L. Donan visited Mr and Mrs W. S. Deering in Mounds, Ill., Sunday. Their daughter, Miss Billy Jean Deering, returned home with the Dolans for a visit. The Deerings lived here several years ago. All the children and many adults have had a field day, or a number of field days, riding the city bus since its run started. They've enjoyed being permitted to remain on the bus for several round trips. One mother was heard to caution her child, "Now you stay on until I get out of the picture show." When Mrs Marion Simpson remarked that she hadn't yet been a passenger, her sister, Miss Frances Jennings, who had made a tour of the town in company with, Mrs G. W. Wynn and Mrs W. T. Pelphrey, admonished her, "Now Mary Arden, I wouldn't tell anyone. You're the only person in town who hasn't ridden it." Miss Lora White left Wednesday for South Bend, Ind., where she joined her brother, Carmon White, Mrs White and daughter, Rita Joy, for a western trip. They will go to Washington, then down the coast to Los Angeles and Hollywood, Calif. In Los Agneles they will visit their brother, Raymond White and Mrs White, and in Hollywood they will visit another brother, Eura White, and Mrs White. On the return trip they will see the Grand Canyon and other points of interest. Howard Russell Pendergraff Mr and Mrs Howard Pendergraff of Coiltown are parents of a son, Howard Russell, born June 28 in Cardwell's Clinic. Weight was ten and one-fourth pounds. Mrs James Baird and son, Timmy, are spending this week in Louisville with Mr Baird. Mr and Mrs A. D. Westerfield have returned from a visit in Cincinnati, Ohio, with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs Jonah Mehl Mrs Sadie Baker of Asheville, N.C., and her daughter-in-law, Mrs T. M. Baker and daughter Cherry Ann, of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, left Monday after a visit with Mr and Mrs J. C. Sugg. A daughter, Rita Carol, was born in Cardwell's Clinic on June 27 to Mr and Mrs [ ]Wilson. Weight was five and one halp pounds. Mrs Wilson, the former Miss Carolyn Buckner and daughter were dismissed Sunday. Mary Kay Pickens returned home Sunday from Evansville where she spent two weeks with her cousin, Janet Pickens. Mrs L. B. Hardin and children spent several days last week in Hopkinsville with her mother, Mrs J. B. Allen, who is ill at the home of Mr and Mrs Robert Towery. Mr and Mrs Luther O. Cates, jr., have returned to Wichita Falls, Tex., after a visit with relatives in Providence and Dawson Springs. His uncle and aunt, Mr and Mrs Burley Fugate of Dawson Springs, accompanied them for a visit with Mr and Mrs L. O. Cates, sr. Elizabeth Ann Frederick Mr and Mrs Rufus Frederick are parents of a daughter born June 22. She weighed ten pounds, and has been named Elizabeth Ann. Mr and Mrs Ray Lemon, Mrs J. L. Bradley, Alton Lemon, and Mrs J. D. Elder attended the funeral in Marion Thursday of Mrs Olive Reed, who died in Pontiac, Mich. Mrs John Higgins and children, Tommy and Charlotte, of Henderson, spent the week- end with Mr and Mrs Wesley Crowe. Mr and Mrs Eulon Sigler and Mr and Mrs Larn Brown visited Mrs Brown's father, Charlie Utterback, at St Mary's Hospital in Evansville Saturday. Mr Utterback is considerably improved. Mrs C. J. Miedreich, Mrs R. L. Price, Miss Jane Letzinger, and Eugene Stallions attended the Henshaw-Dyer wedding in Sturgis Saturday. The Rev. and Mrs C. W. Duffer and daughter, Dorothy, have returned from a visit with relatives in Dallas, Tex. M. W. Hazel of Marked Tree, Ark., and son, Milton Haxel of Chattanooga, Tenn., visited Tuesday with Dr and Mrs J. R. Gilchrist. Returns From Overseas S-Sgt. Evan R. Green is home on a 60-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Green, and other relatives after spending two years and nine months overseas. He will be stationed at Monroe, Va., when he returns to duty on Aug. 22. Jerries - Cates Miss Virginia Jerries became the bride of Cessill L. Cates on June 7 in the rectory of St. Joseph's church in Mishawaka, Ind. A reception was given in the home of the bride's mother at 7 o'clock. The bride is the daughter of Mrs Stephen Jerries,509 S. Union, Mishawaka. Mr Cates, formerly of Providence, is the son of Mrs V. M. Blackburn, Liberty section. Mr and Mrs Cates are making their home at 202 1/2 S. Logan Street, Mishawaka. ONTON NEWS Surprise Birthday Dinner A surprise birthday dinner was given recently in honor of Mrs Wilbur Hancock at her home. Between 70 and 80 relatives and friends were present. Mr and Mrs Dewitt Hancock of Detroit are visiting friends and relatives here. Raymond Patterson of Detroit is visiting his parents, Mr and Mrs Edgar Patterson. Mr and Mrs Joe J. Jackson and family of California are visiting Mr and Mrs Whit Jackson and family. Mrs Murl Dickerson visited her husband who is in the hospital at Louisville, last week-end. Mr and Mrs Ollie Bryant and children, Henry and Susan, and Mr and Mrs Earl Brown and daughters, Leatrice, Ruth, and Janis, attended the dedication service of Richland Baptist church Sunday. The Rev. and Mrs H. R. Peyton and daughter, Alice Rea, of Athens, Ga., visited a few days the first of the week with his parents, Mr and Mrs C. R. Peyton. Mrs Arnold Brown spent several days the first of the week with her parents, Mr and Mrs Mitchell Mills, in Sturgis. Mr and Mrs Bob Wallace, jr., and daughter of Mishawaka, Ind., are visiting the Rev. and Mrs Bob Wallace. W. H. Rayburn of Providence visited his mother Friday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Charles F. Jenkins and grandson, William Cullen, of Earlington, Mr and Mrs Elvis Holt and children of Rock Spring country visited Mrs Laura Cullen and daughters Sunday afternoon. Mrs W. F. Shinall returned Saturday from South Bend, Ind., where she has been convalescing at the home of her daughter, Mrs Clyde Mitchell. Mrs Shinall is much improved. Miss Jessie Allen Roberts of Detroit is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs Wilburn Roberts.
