Survivors are his mother, Mrs Catherine Rayborn; a brother, Walter; and three sisters, Mrs Dorothy Stonecipher, Mrs Ruth Ray, and Mrs Jimmie Vanover, all of Evansville. The body was brought Monday afternoon to Franklin Funeral Home in Clay. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the General Baptist church in Clay, with the Rev. R. T. Mitchell officiating, assisted by the Rev. C. H. Howard. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay. --------------------- Melody Sue, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Hill, was stillborn Monday in Cardwell's Clinic. Surviving besides the parents are a brother, William Henry, jr.; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Wood and Mrs. Millard Melton, all of Providence. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wood by the Rev. Albert Kemp. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery. ---------------------- Marriage License Jack H. M. Blackburn and Mrs Mary Bodard. The occasion was in celebration of the seventieth birthday of Mrs. Blackburn. --- Dr. Sigler In Town Dr. L. J. Sigler, who has not been able to come to town from his West Elm street home for three and one-half years, was pushed in a wheel chair by a neighbor, A. G. Nesbitt, from his home down Main street to the new C. C. Frederick building at the corner of Main and Green streets Saturday afternoon. ---- "abstracted" Yarbrough - Johnson The 35-year old Mt. Zion Methodist Church near Marion, was the scene Friday afternoon, July 4, at three o'clock, of its first wedding, when Miss Ann Yarbrough, daughter of Mr and Mrs Melvin Conger, became the bride of Lyle Johnson, son of Mr and Mrs R. L. Johnson. Miss Joyce Yarbrough, only sister of the bride, was her bridesmaid, and the groom was attended by his brother, Perry Johnson. The bride's "something old" was a gold broach which had been worn by her maternal great grandmother, Mrs Kate Shanks; she carried something borrowed, a handmade handkerchief of net belonging to her aunt, Mrs Katherine Knight. The bride formerly lived in Clay and is the granddaughter of Mr and Mrs W. S. Parker. ---- Chas. Watson of Detroit visited his parents, Mr and Mrs T. K. Watson, last week. --- Mrs Lilly Vanover of Providence spent the first of the week with her sister, Mrs. Willie Herion. --- Five Generations Represented AT Dinner Mr and Mrs W. A. Blackwell entertained with a family dinner at their home Friday. Those present were Mr and Mrs D. L. Evans and son of Louisville; Mrs Lula Davis of Trenton,Tenn.; Dr. and Mrs J. D. Carlton of Union City, Tenn.; Mr and Mrs J. F. Hill of Providence; Dr. and Mrs C. O. Simpson and the Rev. and Mrs Curry Simpson and sons. There were five generations present. The five generations were Mrs J. F. Hill, Mrs C. O. Simpson, Mrs W. A. Blackwell, Mrs D. L. Evans and her son, D. L. Thompson Jun 21 in Owensboro with the Rev. Marvin McAtee officiating. Mr. Thompson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Thompson of Owensboro. Mrs. Thompson is a 1944 grduate of Clay High School. --- Mr. and Mrs. Garland Vandiver and daughter Diadra left Sunday for Oakland Calif., where they will make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Vandiver and daughter have been on an extended visit here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Grant and family. --- Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Winstead and son Phil have returned to their home in Ashley, Ill., after a visit with his mother, Mrs. W.P. Winstead and other relatives. --- Chesley Kellough of Corydon visited his sister, Mrs. Chas. Fowler, near Dixon Tuesday. --- Mr. and Mrs. White Kuykendall and daughter Joyce attended the funeral in Clay Tuesday of Jack Rayborn, who was killed in an automobile accident in Evansville Saturday. Mr. Rayborn was a nephew of Mr. Kuykendall. --- T-Sgt. Joe Brill of Fort Knox is spending his furlough here with his aunt, Miss Louisa Brill and his sister, Mrs. Joel Maxwell, Mr. Maxwell and son. McCormick were married in Henderson on June 28 with the Rev. E Keevil Judy, pastor of the First Baptist church officiating. --- McKnight - Humphrey Mrs O. U. McKnight of Brownsville, Tenn., the former Miss Nancy Pate of Providence, has announced the marriage of her daughter, Alice Katherine, to William Lee Humphrey, Master-Sergeant, U.S. Army. The marriage was solemnized on June 14 in Little Chapel, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Mrs Humphrey has been in Germany for some time as a civilian employe of the U.S.Army of Occupation. --- Mr and Mrs Carl E. Head and son, Ronnie, and J. R. Head, of Detroit, and Mrs V. B. Head were dinner guests Monday of last week of Mr and Mrs Carter Lee. --- Mrs H. E. Zerfey has purchased the home of B. W. Morris on Willow street and has moved here from Cincinnati, Ohio. Mrs Zerfey is a sister of Mrs W. Fred Hume. --- Mrs R. L. Hoover and daughter, Dorothy, of Lexington, spent a few days last week with her mother, Mrs Anne Ramage. --- Mr and Mrs Floyd Middleton and daughter, Patsy have gone to Evarts because of the illness of his mother. --- A family reunion was enjoyed Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs R.R. Crowell on Bellville Road. Additional Clay News "abstracted" Marshall Family Enjoys Annual Picnic Mr and Mrs T. W. Marshall entertained at their home in the country on July 4 with a picnic for their children. This Marshall gathering is an annual event which the family has celebrated for the past twenty years. Children, grandchildren, and a number of friends gathered for this occasion. Mr and Mrs Marshall represent two of the oldest families in Webster County. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1937 and are looking forward to observing their sixtieth anniversary this year in November. --- George Lynn of Detroit, Mrs. Lynn and children of Blackford spent the week- end with Mrs. Hodge Lynn and daughter, Miss Cora Lynn. --- Mrs Grace Brown of Providence visited her sister, Mrs Huey Crowell the latter part of last week. --- Mrs Noble Shelton of Detroit is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs G. A. Franklin. --- Eldon Parker of Houston, Tex., is visiting his parents, Mr and Mrs W. S. Parker. Onton News Dies Suddenly Elvey Ashby of Evansville died suddenly Saturday morning while be and his family were visiting Mr and Mrs Bentley Smith.
