Asbridge, 82, McNeil Corn Creek Road, Rockholds, passed away \par Wednesday, January 3, 2001 at his residence. \par The son of the late James Clarence and Myrtle Travis Asbridge, born \par May 8, 1918. Mr. Asbridge was a Coast Guard veteran, having served his \par country during World War II. He was retired from U.S. Steel. Mr. Asbridge \par was a 50-year member of the Hugh Harris Lodge #938 F&AM. He was an active \par member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. \par A faithful husband, loving father, grandfather and friend, he was a \par man of wisdom and integrity. He lived life to the fullest, looking forward \par to each new day, whether here on Earth or in Heaven. \par Survivors include his wife, Maxine Asbridge of Rockholds; one \par daughter, Phyllis Hopper and husband, E.R. Hopper, Jr. of London; one son, \par Tony Asbridge and wife, Portia of Raleigh, North Carolina; three grandsons, \par Brent, Todd and Aaron Hopper; one granddaughter, Stephanie Asbridge Bentley; \par two great-granddaughters, Allie Elizabeth and Mattie Grace Hopper; one \par step-son, Chuck Ronney Rapier; one step-daughter, Jolene Rapier Baker and \par husband, Al; three step-grandsons, Bret, Ross and Andy Baker. \par He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Laverna K. Asbridge \par and one sister, Ruby Butler. \par Funeral services were held Saturday, January 6 with Rev. Barry Howard \par officiating.
