OBITS: ASKINS, Tom - 24 Oct 2001 - Whitley Co, KY Date: Thu, 1 Nov 2001 23:47:00 -0500 Submitted by: Bobbie Ivey-Lewallen (tngirl@icx.net) FROM THE CORBIN NEWS-JOURNAL 31 OCT 2001 Tom Askins, 70, Whetstone Road, Rockholds, passed away Wednesday morning, October 24, 2001 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include three daughters, Vicki Reynolds and husband, Charles of Barbourville, Joie Smith and husband, Robert of Rockholds and Bonnie Mackey and husband, Robbie of Williamsburg; son, Delbert Askins and wife, Julia of Mt. Washington; eight grandchildren; brother, Dee Askins and wife, Mary Bell of Williamsburg; his ex-wife, Marcenia Askins of Rockholds; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 27 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother David Chandler officiating. Burial was in the Whetstone Cemetery, Rockholds.
