She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlo Britton. Funeral services were held March 6 at the Vankirk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. C.R. Kirby and Rev. Graden Sears officiating. Burial was in the Cumberland Memorial Gardens by Vankirk Funeral Home. FROM THE NEWS-JOURNAL LONDON KY 3/8/01 Hazel Britton, 87, retired cafeteria worker for Lily High School and resident of Corbin, KY., passed away Saturday, March 3, 2001, at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin. Those preceding her in death were: father: John H. Black; mother: Ida Murphy Black; husband: Carlo Britton; daughter: Juanita Britton; three brothers: Edgar, Clatus, and Pete Black. Survivors include: three sons: Harvey Britton and wife Shirley, La Porte, IN, Jim Britton and wife Shirley, Gray, KY, Herschel Britton and wife Linda, Corbin, KY; two daughters: Ruth B. Kennedy, Lois Cuthbert, both of Independence, KY; two sisters: Julia Parker, Hamilton, OH, Roberta Thompson, Lily, KY; brother: Virgil Black, Crown Point, IN; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren. Services were held at the Van Kirk Funeral Home in Corbin Mar. 6 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. C. R. Kirby and Rev. Graden Sears officiating. Burial was at the Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily.
