Brown, a longtime Stamford, Connecticut resident, passed away at her home on Wednesday, February 28, 2001 due to natural causes. She was 85. Born in Frakes on June 3, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Elsie Jones Bowlin. Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio and received her Bachelor of Arts degree. She was a teacher in the local Kentucky School System and moved to Stamford in 1941. She became the secretary and treasurer of Barnes Page Wire Products in Stamford for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the League of Women Voters and the Ridges Roxbury United Methodist Church, where she was active in the choir. She is survived by her husband, Clarence Brown of Stamford, Connecticut; her two sons, Channing Brown of Monroe, Connecticut and Barry Brown of Seattle, Washington; her two sisters, Joey Watkins of Middlesboro and Florence Webb of Michigan, her brother, Maxwell Bowlin of Knoxville, Tennessee; her daughter-in-law, Marion Borges Brown of Monroe, Connecticut; and her three grandchildren, Alexandria, Julianne and Stafford Brown, all of Connecticut. Graveside services and burial were held Monday, March 5 at the Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily.
