OBITS: DIXON, Lonnie Ray - 10 Jan 2001 - Whitley Co, KY Date: Wed, 24 Jan 2001 22:12:17 -0500 Submitted by: "Bobbie Ivey-Lewallen" FROM THE NEWS-JOURNAL 1-18-01, PART 1 Lonnie Ray Dixon, 47, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2001 at his home near London. He was born April 28, 1953 at Corbin to the late Clarence and Fannie Sams Dixon. He had been employed by Pepsi-Cola, the L&N Railroad, and in the heating and air conditioning field after becoming a boilermaker. He attended the Park Hill Pentecostal Church. Survivors include three children, Travis Lonnie Dixon of London, Sondra Myers of Corbin, and Sherry Williams of Covington; four grandchildren; five sisters, Wilma Haggard and Shirley Newby of Louisville, Doris Allen of Cincinnati, Ohio, Barbara Rose and Linda Burke of Corbin; four brothers, Bill Dixon and Allen Dixon of Cincinnati, Ohio, Russell Dixon and Joey Dixon of Corbin; 19 nieces and nephews, including Bill R. Dixon; 18 great-nieces and -nephews; special friends, James Coffey, and Ann and Ed Johnson. Funeral services were held Friday, January 12 at the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Thurston Hensley and Richard Rogers officiating. Burial was in the Martin Cemetery. Nephews served as pallbearers.
