OBITS: Evans, Jason B. - 1936 - Whitley Co, KY Submitted by: Byron Redmond Date: Wed, 18 Jun 1997 With this article is a picture of "Uncle Jason". Here is the article in it's entirety from the "Laurel River Association of KY. Baptists" Jason B. Evans Jason B. Evans was born December 19, 1844. Died June 27, 1936. He was better known and generally called "Uncle Jason". He was twice married. His first wife, four daughters and one son preceded him to the grave. His last wife, three children and approximately seventy-five grand and great-grandchildren with a great host of friends mourn his death. He joined the Liberty Baptist church more than 70 years ago. In 1896 when East Pittsburg Baptist church was constituted, he was one of the charter members and remained a faithful member until God said, "Your work is done," and took him home. He was ever ready with his time, his money and his means for the support of his church, his pastor, evangelist, sick, poor and needy, or anyone in distress. He had been feeble for a few years, but would take his cane and go to church until only a few months before his going. East Pittsburg church has lost a faithful member; Laurel River Association a regular and useful messenger; but we hope to meet him around the Great White Throne in Heaven. That is the entire article and there is no date for it but I believe it was printed soon after his death. ========================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free genealogical information on the Internet, data may be freely used for personal research and by noncommercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
