OBITS: ELLISON, George - 21 Oct 1942 - Whitley Co, KY Submitted by: Mary Lou (hudgo@medt.com) Date: Saturday, June 15, 2002 12:25 AM The Whitley Republican, Williamsburg, KY - Thursday, October 22, 1942 Funeral services for George Ellison, 64, were held from the Briar Creek Baptist Church on Friday, October 16, with Rev. T.E. West in charge of the service. Interment was made in the church cemetery. Acting pallbearers were Howard Hickey, L. O. Siler, Eugene Siler, John Maggard, Arthur Lee and John Murphy. Mr. Ellison passed away at his home on Wednesday after being ill some eight months from heart trouble. A native of Pleasant View, he was the son of Matt and Nannie Beams Ellison. On November 25, 1906, he was married to Miss Nellie Carroll who survives him. Children surviving are Carl Ellison, Mrs. Fae Smith, Mrs. Edna Trammell, and Teddy Ellison of the U.S. Army. One sister, Mrs. Belle Jones, and two brothers, L.N. Ellison and Sam Ellison, also survive. Mr. Ellison has been a merchant in Williamsburg for many years, coming here from Gatliff, Ky., where he was also in the mercantile business. Out-of-town friends and relatives here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. T.R. Carroll, Mrs. L.C. Gross, Edwin Gross, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Ellison, Mrs. Drew Ellison, Fred Ellison, L.D. Baird, Mae Rains, Mrs. Maude Hutton, Mr. and Mrs. John Cox, Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Baird, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Trammell, Arthur Lee, Mrs. Hi Trammell, G.W. Ellison.
