Hale Sr., 73, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, formerly of Gatliff, passed away Sunday morning, April 23, 2000 at his home. He moved to Oak Ridge in 1947 after his discharge from the U.S. Army and worked as a guard with the Atomic Energy Commission's patrol. He later w orked as a chemical operator and then became a machinist at the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant operated by Union Carbide Nuclear Division. He enjoyed yard work and playing billiards with his cousin, Kenneth Smith. He was the son of the late Estes Hale and Katherine Davidson Hale. Survivors include two daughters, Karren Kay Moorhouse and husband, Tom of Oak Ridge, Tennessee and Teresa Ann Hale of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; one son, Jack T. "Butch" Hale Jr. and wife, Patsy of Tarrant, Alabama; five grandchildren, Autumn Michelle Moorhouse of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Donnie Hale of Tarrant, Alabama, Jack T. Hale III of Tarrant, Alabama, Sherry Hale of Tarrant, Alabama, and Jackie Simpson of Tarrant, Alabama; as well as a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 25 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Jones and Teresa Ann Hale officiating. Burial was in the Highland Cemetery.
