Bertha M. Helton, 93, West Sixth Street, Corbin, passed away Monday,
December 18, 2000 in the Baptist Regional Medical Center. She was born March
20, 1907 in Bell County to the late Robert L. and Nannie Jane Rutherford
Evans. She was the widow of Oscar C. Helton. She was a former restaurant
waitress and belonged to Central Baptist Church. Survivors include three 
children, Larry K. Helton of Biloxi, Mississippi, Jackie Sawyers of Hamilton, 
Ohio and Wilma Jean Trotto of Casco, Michigan; two sisters, Bertie Hodge of 
Corbin and Eliza Crawford of North Carolina; two brothers, Hillary Evans of 
Tennessee and Dewey Evans of Bell County; four grandchildren and four great-
grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held 
Saturday, December 23 at the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Joe Leonard 
officiating. Burial was in the Pine Hill Cemetery. O'Neil Funeral Home in 
charge of arrangements.
