OBITS: MEHLENBACHER, Walter - 25 Sep 2000 - Whitley Co, KY Date: Sat, 7 Oct 2000 17:25:24 -0400 Submitted by: "Bobbie Ivey-Lewallen" TNGirl@icx.net FROM THE NEWS-JOURNAL, CORBIN KY, 10/5/00, PART 2 Walter Mehlenbacher, 67, Williamsburg, passed away Monday night, September 25, 2000 at the Jellico Community Hospital, Jellico, Tennessee. He moved to Williamsburg in September 1969 and was a member of the Watson Chapel Baptist Church. Walter was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army and was employed by Cumberland College in 1980. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Beam Mehlenbacher of Williamsburg; two sons, Rodney and wife, Donna of Avon, New York and Walter and fianceé Natalie of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Cari, Krystal, Jennifer, Angie and Ronnie; one sister, Mary Lou "Lu Lu" Blattberger and husband, Ray of West Senica, New York; one brother, Daniel Mehlenbacher and wife, Joan of Bath, New York; as well as a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his son, Herman Mehlenbacher. Funeral services were held Friday, September 29 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doyle Lester, Rev. Jabe Smith and Rev. Brian Downs officiating. Burial was in the Piney Grove Cemetery. V.F.W. Post 3167 conducted graveside services. Pallbearers were J oe Keith Jones, James Foley, Ed Freeman, Coach Terry Stigall, Coach Randy Vernon, Wayne Creekmore, and Russell Jones. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be sent to the Walter Mehlenbacher Memorial Fund, 601 South Second Street, Williamsburg, KY 40769.
