He was born in Whitley County on June 13, 1928. He attended Williamsburg Grade School and High School. He graduated from Cumberland College, from Carson-Newman College, and from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and also completed graduate work at Xavier University. While in high school, he was ordained as a Baptist minister by The Main Street Baptist Church. He pastored churches in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ohio. He later left the ministry and worked in Ohio as a Real Estate broker. He leaves behind a daughter, Marcia Dale Stott Ballard and her husband, Patrick Ballard of Hendersonville, North Carolina; a son and his wife, Wesley Jay Stott and Yvette Lemahieu Stott and their two children, Olivia Stott and Maxwell Stott, of Valrico, Florida. His larger family consists of three sisters, two brothers and their spouses. Christine Stott Hart of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, James and Monnie Stott of Williamsburg, Paul and Mary Stott of Rockhold, Carolyn Stott Seals and Orville Seals of Corbin and Loraine Stott Maiden of Morhead City, North Carolina. His departure from his journey on earth leaves behind hundreds of beloved friends too numerous to mention. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ellison Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service and burial will immediately follow in the Highland Cemetery, Davis Addition. Ellison Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
