The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net ***************************************************************************** FROM THE NEWS-JOURNAL, CORBIN, KY, 13 JAN 2000 John Lewis Turnblazer, 76, Corbin, formerly of Jellico, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2000 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center. A native of Jellico, TN, he was born December 11, 1923 to the late William and Sally Jenkins Turnblazer. He attended Jellico High School, the University of Tennessee, and Cumberland College, and had been active in alumni affairs of Jellico High School and Cumberland College. John served in the U.S. Navy in the south Pacific during World War II. Later he became a construction inspector. A 34-year resident of Corbin, he belonged to the V.F.W. and the First Baptist Church of Jellico. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Turnblazer; a son, John L. Turnblazer II of Jacksboro, Tennessee; four step-children, Arlene Perkins, Janice Gregory, and Sharon Jervis of Corbin and Chris Brasel of Dayton, Ohio; one brother, William Turnblazer of Middlesboro; two grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren and two nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 9 at the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Jervis and John Clifton officiating. Burial was in the Jellico Cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers. O'Neil Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
