Bingham Wagers, age 83, passed away at Baptist Regional Medical Center on Sunday, October 22, 2000, following a long illness. Mrs. Wagers was a graduate of Union College and received a masters degree from Eastern Kentucky University. Mrs. Wagers was a former teacher and guidance counselor in the Knox County school system for 34 years. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, Corbin, where she was a long time Sunday school teacher. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Bingham; her husband, Russell E. Wagers; and three great-grandchildren, Cody Gibson, Thomas Lee Gibson III, and Christie Cheyenne Wagers. She is survived by her children, Russell L. Wagers, of Glasgow, Wanda W. Smith and husband, Philip of Harlan, and John D. Wagers of Corbin; grandchildren, Marc Kidd and wife, Amy of Plano, Texas, James Wagers, David Wagers, and Gary Wagers and wife, Diane of Glasgow, Chris Wagers of Corbin, Monica Marcus and husband, Chip of Jacksonville, Florida, Michael Nicholson of Charlotte, North Carolina, Penny McFadden and husband, Pat of Lexington, Philip Drew Smith and Stacy Smith, of Lexington; great-grandchildren, Seth and Samantha Kidd, Charlie Marcus and Savanah Wagers; three sisters, Viola Bright, Gertrude Hubbard and husband, Arthur, and Nancy Dugger and husband, Clyde; and a host of friends and family. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 25 at the O'Neil Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Joe Leonard officiating. Burial will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens, Lily. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. O'Neil Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
