Knox circuit Circuit Court Petition in Equity Jobe B Davis states that on the_____day of____18__ he enter marriage with the Deft Besty Davis known as Betsy Hoskins expecting & hoping that by said marriage that he would add to his own happiness &that of Deft that lived with said Deft about__months that said Deft during the time he lived with her was abusive and ill disposed toward him without cause & that her ill temper & ill treatment to Pltff was such as to make pltff miserable and that he pltff found that he could not live with the Deft and be treated by her as a wife should ought to treat her husband and that on the __day__of 18__ Pltff and Deft seperated. Deft then said she never would live with Pltff again that they have lived seperate and apart ever since notes more than five years that they have had no intercourse, cohabitation as man and wife since. He further states and charges that during the time he lived with the DEFT she treated him unkind & inhuman so that he could not live with her. He further charges that the DEFT Betsy was at the time he married her married to a certain John Arington that she was married to him in the county of BUNKHAM in the State of North Carolina as he is informed and believes that he will so soon as he can obtain a record of said marriage file a copy of same as a part of this petiion. He states, that he had been informed & believes it true that DEFT has never been divorced from her said husband the said John Arington & of it he did not know at the time he married her and he married the DEFT. in Knox County Kentucky and that defendent now lives in Knox County and he the PTLFF lives in Whitley County and that his cause of ? occured within five years in Knox county Kentucky. The Pltff prayed that he be divorced from the DEFT and rstored to all the rights and privelleges of an unmarried man for all proper relief.
