Obituary: Adams, Porter died - September 3, 2004 Submitted by: Pamela Adams ********************************************************************** Western Star - ADAMS, Porter W. Age 82, of Lebanon, Ohio, nearly 60 years and formerly of Kentucky, died Friday, September 3, 2004, at Bethesda North Hospital,Montgomery, Ohio. Born in Torrent (Wolfe County), Kentucky on December 18, 1921, to Porter S. and Elizabeth (nee Vanderpool) Adams, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Adams retired from Western Southern Life Insurance in 1984 after 24 years as an agent, working from their Franklin, Ohio and Lebanon, Ohio offices during his career. He enjoyed woodcarving, singing and square dancing and was a great storyteller. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Donald F. Adams and one sister, Wanda M. Brewer. Mr. Adams and his surviving wife, Evelyn (nee Brewer) Adams, would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary September 15, 2004. Survivors also include one son, Porter W. Adams Jr. "Rusty" and his wife Kitty of Lebanon; two daughters, Cindy Yetter of Lebanon and Sandy Williams and her husband George of Anderson, Indiana; one sister, Joyce Blackard of Greenwood, Indiana and five grandchildren, Micha Yetter, Cassie Yetter, Katie Adams Burns and her husband Josh, Zach Williams and Adam Yetter. The visitation was held Tuesday, September 7, 6-8:00 p.m. and the funeral service was held Wednesday, September 8, 11:00 a.m. all at the Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home, Lebanon. Mr. Philip Adams and Mr. George Williams officiated. Interment followed in Lebanon Cemetery with military honors provided by the Lebanon VFW Post #6069 Memorial Team.
