Woodford co KY, overlooking  the Kentucky River valley and 
Bluegrass Parkway.
Appears on TVA and Farm Bureau plat maps

(private property, not accessible to the public, still used 
and maintained by the family)
from Versailles, (pronounced ver - SALES by the natives) from 
Woodford Historical Socirty Center to McGowan's Ferry Rd, 
several miles to Lillard's Ferry (on left), several miles to 
Bowman Lane (on left), no access without permission.

Research by submitter Clinton Slayton suggests this lineage:
John Slatton of NC/SC - 1st gen
Capt John Slaton of Hawkins co TN -2nd gen
John Slatton of Lee co VA, Owen co KY -3rd gen
James Slatton of Harrison co KY - 4th
William Franklin Slatten of Woodford co KY -5th
Ben F Slatten of Woodford co KY -6th

James Slatten was in the Harrison-Owen-Scott-Grant co KY area 
with at least two of his brothers, Madison "Matt," and John H, 
and possibly two more brothers, Ben F and Clarence (?). Clarence 
is not accounted for as a brother to these men in census records 
unless he appears as either Joshua or Thomas J in the 1850 Lee co 
VA census, page 377.
Five brothers served in the Union Army, acc to John H's obituary.

B F Slatten, Co I, 1st reg, Capital Guards, enlisted Frankfort 
Aug 18, 1864, 6 mos duration
James Slatten appears as orderly sergeant for 15th KY Inf (?), 
but also
James Slatten Co B , 6th KY Volunteer Cavalry, enlisted  Lousiville
Mar 10 1864. 
Madison Slatten Co K, 4th KY Vol Inf, enlisted Chattanooga, 
Jan 4, 1864, prisoner at Andersonville
John Statten [sic], Co K, 4th KY Vol Inf, enlisted Louisville 
Apr 3, 1864
Thomas J Slatten, Co K, 4th KY Vol Inf, enlisted Camp Dick 
Robinson Oct 9, 1861

Burial places of the brothers still not located, though Matt is 
assumed to be buried in the area of Corinth or Stonewall KY. The 
Ben F in the graveyard is the grandson of James, nephew of older 
Ben F.  

Beauregard Carter was brother of Virginia (Carter) Slatten and 
Allie (Carter) Thompson.  His ruined farmhouse is near the cemetery.
