MELON DOUCET, CARTVILLE.--Melon Doucet, planter, is a native of this parish,
born in 1834.  His father, Melon Doucet, Sr., was also a planter.  He died in
1860.  His mother, a native of the parish, died in 1864.

Our subject gives his chief attention to agricultural pursuits.  The principal
products of his farm are rice and corn.  He is also a successful stock raiser,
and has on his place a good number of both cattle and horses.  In his
religious views, Mr. Doucet is a Roman Catholic.
