It is believed she came from Ireland. She was Irish, born in 1840, married Andrew Weiss in Mobile, AL. May 7, 1862 (Records in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mobile, Mobile Co., Ala. Andrew Weiss was a confederate soldier and Anna followed behind the army as it moved into Chattanooga, Tenn. There her first child, a son, Jacob Andrew, was born, Feb. 14, 1863, while the father was fighting on Look Out Mountain. After the war they settled in Church Point, LA where a second child, a daughter, Anna, was born, Oct.4, 1866. The family moved to Washington, LA where Anna Grey died in June, 1868 at the age of 28. She was buried in Washington, LA. Andrew Weiss The following is all we know about - Andrew Weiss. He was born in Bavaria, Germany about 1832. He left Germany at the age of 18 to escape military service and came to New York to meet an older brother, Adam Weiss who was drowned in New York harbor shortly after Andrew arrived. He came to Louisiana and served four years in the Confederate Army, enlisting as private in the Straw Bridge Brigde at New Orleans, May 7, 1861. He married Anna Gray in Mobile in Mobile, Ala. May 7, 1862, fought in the battle of Lookout Mt. Chattanooga Tenn. in 1863 and was absent on detached service when the last roll was called in Atlanta, Georgia. After the war he settled in Church Point, LA moved to Washington, La where his wife died in June 1868. He then came back to Church Point for a while and later settled in Rayne, La. where he died Feb. 18,1884. He lies buried in the Rayne Cemetery. He was a blacksmith and horse shoer by trade.
