Clerk ********************** STATE OF LOUISIANA, PARISH OF ACADIA ------------------------- Be it known, That on this twenty-third day of the month of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety two. ------------------------- Before me, Raymond T. Clark, Clerk of Court, Ex-Officio Recorder, and Notary Public, duly commissioned and sworn in for the Parish of Acadia, State of Louisiana, and in the presence of the witnesses hereinafter named and undersigned, Personally apppeared: THE SOUTHWESTERN LOUISIANA LAND COMPANY, a body corporate, duly created and existing under and by virtue of the laws of the State of Louisiana, domiciliated in the town of Opelousas, St. Landy Parish, State of Louisiana, herein represented by its General Manager, William W. Duson, a resident of Crowley, Acadia Parish, Louisiana, who declared that for the consideration and on the terms and conditions hereinafter set forth, it does by these presents grant, bargain, sell, assign, convey, set over, and deliver with all legal warranties, unto Isaac Hayes, George P. Abney, Henry A. Abney, William A. Higginbotham and Jefferson Murphy all residents of the Parish of Acadia State of Louisiana and who are acting herein as a board Trustees of Long Point Church of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, situated in said Parish of Acadia State of Louisiana duly appointed and authorized to act as such John A Miller Presiding Elder of said Circuit of said Methodist Church and which appointment was duly approved by the quarter conference of the Crowley Circuit in the Opelousas District of Louisianawhere present, purchasing and accepting for themselves as a Board of Trustees and for our successors in office and assigns, and acknowledging delivery and possession thereof, the following described property, to-wit: A certain tract or parcel of land situated in the Parish of Acadia State of Louisiana and described as Beginning the South East corner of the North West quarter of the South quarter of Section Thirty (30) in Township Eight (8) South of Range One (1) East and running thence West in South line of said North West quarter of South West quarter Eight Chains, thence North Five (5) Chains, thence East Eight (8) Chains to the East line of the North West quarter of the West quarter of sais Section Thirty (30). Thence South to said line Five (5) Chains to the place of beginning and containing four acres. To have and to Hold the said property unto the said purchasers their successors and assigns forever. And the said vendor moreover transfers unto the said purchasers all the rights and actions of warranty to which vendor is or may be entitled against all former owners and proprietors of the property herein conveyed subrogating the said purchasers to the said rights and actions to be by them enjoyed and exercised in the above manner as they might have been by the present vendors. This sale is made and accepted for an in consideration of the price and sum of One dollar <$1.00> in Cash, Current Money, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and full aquittance and discharge granted therefor and the further consideration that said property shall be held in trust that said premises should be used kept maintained and disposed of as a place of divine worship for the use of the ministry and membership of the Methodist Episcopal Church South; and as burying ground for said Church subject to the discipline usage and ministerial appointments of said Church as from time to time authorized and declared by the General Conference of said __ and the Annual Conference within whose bounds the said premises also situate. Contracting parties release me, Notary, from the production of the Certificate of Mortgage as required by law. The taxes all paid. Done and Passed, in the Parish of Acadia, the day, month and year first before written, in presence of Charles L. Crippen and James E.
