One woman was confined in the same cell with two male prisoners. 3.Roads need attention especially in the fourth and sixth ward. Thursday’s Session TRUE BILLS Monday The State of Louisiana vs Henry Maltbrink larceny, plead not guilty, fixed for October 29. Sonny Mouton & Wesley Davis violating liquor license lawa, plea not guilty; fixed for October 29. Mamie Washington & John Hickman stabbing with intent to murder, plea not guilty; fix for October 31. Frank Morris larceny, plea not guilty, fixed for October 31. Joseph Seice cutting with intent to kill, plea not guilty, fixed for November 3. John Guidry horse stealing, plea not guilty, fixed for November 3. Justi Comeau stabbing with intent to murder, plea not guilty, fixed for November 5. John Morgan killing a cow and calf, plea not guilty; fixed for November 5. Taureand Schveader assault and battery, plea guilty; sentence deferred. Gab. Johnson larceny, bond forfeited. Geneus Aucans breaking and tearing down fence, plea not guilty; fixed for Nov. 3. Chas. Hardy horse stealing, plea not guilty, tried to a jury and defendant found guilty. Alfred Barry, et al set for today, was on motion of defendant, continued to Nov. 3. Only one case was taken up on the civil docket, that of Martha Dagan, wife vs. Beauregard Furez, husband. Judgment rendered for plaintiff. In the criminal section of the District Court Tuesday, the case of the State of Louisiana vs. Louis Baptiste was tried to a jury. Baptiste is accused of burglary and entering a house with a dangerous weapon with intent to murder. The case was still on trial at noon adjournment. Other criminal cases were: State of Louisiana vs. Valerin Duhan killing a hog, bond fixed at $25. Glen Abbott forgery, plea of guilty entered. Wm. Arthur larceny, plea of guilty entered. NOT TRUE BILLS State of Louisiana vs. Wm. Cromwell assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to kill. Arthur Trahan disturb peace assembly. Charles Hickman - larceny. George Wellman carrying a concealed weapon. Mrs. Donatile Bergereaux murder. Denis Minique assault and battery. Oger Breaux cruelty to animals. Charlie Smith shooting with intent to kill. Henry Kritzer carrying concealed weapon. Ben Butler murder. Joseph Brown assault with a dangerous weapon. M.A. Hamilton assault and battery. Wm. Cromwell assault with a dangerous weapon. Tom Spell larceny. Lucian Richard et al burglary. Emile Romer et al lying in wait and striking with intent to murder. Adam Menard larceny Caside Herbert assault and battery. Celina Jean shooting with intent to kill. Hypolite Broussard found guilty of larceny, was sentenced to pay a fine of $100. and costs and serve a term of six months in jail. In the Criminal Court the jury brought a verdict of guilty to a charge of obtaining money under false pretenses, was given a sentence of sixty days in the parish jail. The case of Louisiana vs. R.L. Bradley, indited for cutting with intent to kill, was tried to a jury this morning. District Attorney Campbell appeared for the state, and Montgomery and Taylor represented the defendant. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty. DISTRICT COURT Crowley Signal November 8, 1902 In the district court Friday morning sentence was passed on a number of convicts. Louis Baptiste, who was tried under several indictments, was sentenced under four convictions as follows: Entering in the night, 5 years in the penitentiary; shooting with intent to murder, 20 years in pen; burglary and larceny, 10 years in pen, making 45 years to serve. Wm. Arthur was given 10 sentences of six months each on a conviction for larceny. Charles Hardy, convicted for horse stealing, was sentenced to 5 years in penitentiary. State of Lousians vs. S. Primeaux larceny, found guilty. Released until Saturday on $200. bond. Clementine Davis selling liquor without a license, bond forfeiter. Saturday There was no session of the district court today, it being a legal holiday. The following misdemeanor cases were disposed of Friday evening before court adjourned: State of Louisiana vs. Wm. Duhon killing a hog, plea of not guilty entered, fixed for trial Nov. 8 Frank Morris larceny, plea of not guilty entered, tried and found guilty. Fred Landow assault and battery, plea of not guilty, tried and found guilty. Desplaine Plaisance assault with a dangerous weapon, plea not guilty. Motion for continuance overruled. Tried and defendant found guilty. Called for sentence Nov. 8 Jack Lockley discharging fire arms, plea of not guilty; Tried and found guilty. Called for sentence Nov. 8 Glen Abbott convicted of forgery, was sentenced to five years in the penitentiary. Pierre Lombard convicted of assaulting an officer and resisting arrest, was sentenced to two years in the penitentiary. Wednesday Civil cases: J.B. Clements vs. Annette Clement default confirmed. J.J. Kutasch vs. L.S. Cornett answer and motion filed. J.A. Pedigo vs. R.T. Clark, clerk of courts and recorder, default. J.F. Istre vs. La. R.R. Co. default W.E. Ellis, administrator of estate of C.J. Welsh, deceased vs. Bank of Acadia, fixed for Nov. 17. Garr Scott & Co. vs. John Schlisher default confirmed. H.W. Robertson vs. Susie Duplante amended answer filed. Criminal docket State of Louisiana vs. Joe Grager attempted highway robbery, plea of not guilty entered.
