About_____years ago the late Charles Chiasson sold to his son-in-law, Simon Matte land located on the west side of Bayou Plaquemine Brulee bounded on the lower side by land now belonging to Cyrille Thibodeaux. Land is 4 arpents front by 40 arpents depth was sold for $120.00. This land is part of a tract that was purchased originally by Charles Chiasson from the estate of Basil Chiasson, which said land was confirmed on Certificate B, No. 1007 dated 28 June 1811. DONATION OF LAND MADELEINE BAROUSSA TO HER CHILDREN St. Landry parish Courthouse Donation Book, Act No. 186, before William Elkins, dated 1 Nov 1860. Madeleine Baroussa widow of Charles Chiasson donates to her children Caroline Chiasson widow of Onez. Matte and Celiste Chiasson wife of Simon Matte. Confirmation of donation by her late husband to their children a piece of land situated at Pointe Noire measuring 10 arpents front and 40 arpents deep. JOSEPH DOUCET TO JOHN N. OGDEN St. Landry parish Original Acts, No. 13026, dated 15 November 1873. Be it known and remembered that on this 15th day of November 1873 before me James. M. Thompson recorder and Ex Officio a Notary Public in and for the parish of St. Landry, State of Louisiana personally came and appeared Joseph Doucet a resident of the parish of St. Landry who declared that whereas being indebted to Mr. John N. Ogden attorney at law in the sum one hundred dollars for professional services already rendered and to be rendered in the case of Louisiana vs. the said Joseph Doucet and for which amount he has agreed and consented to pay him cash and whereas he declared that he did not have the said amount of money therefore he does by these presents give in payment to the said John N. Ogden in lieu of said amount all the interest which he owns in certain cotton on the place of Francois Daigle subrogating the said Ogden to all his right, titles and interest in and so said cotton and in case this cotton should not sell for enough to make up said $100.00 then and in that case he further gives in payment to the said John N. Ogden two certain horses owned by the aid Joseph Doucet in such an amount as may be necessary to make up the deficiet of said amount of $100.00. The condition of this giving in payment is such that the said John N. Ogden should realize more out the property herein given in payment of one hundred dollars then in that case any surplus that there may be shall be returned to the said Joseph Doucet. The said John N. Ogden attorney as aforesaid has by this act full power and authority to take in possession and sell said property in order to realize said amount of $100.00. This done and signed on the day, month and year first above written in the presence of Chas. F. Burr and Jas. J. Thompson competent and attendant witnesses who have signed this act with the said Joseph Doucet and the said John N. Ogden atty as aforesaid who herein accepts this act with all its claims and conditions. Smith $104.10 Edmond Thibodeau $104.10 NOTES TO SUCCESSION OF MARCELITE LEBERT St. Landry parish Courthouse Succession No. 1149, dated 1844. Marcelite died on or about 4 August 1844. Her husband Hypolite Leger is tutor to the minor children. Jean Louis Lebert is under-tutor to the minor children. Appraisers for the community property are Ursin Lavergne and Joseph Stelly. The minor heirs are Paulatron, Alexandre, Hypolite Jr., Pierre, Constance or Constant, Pauleon, Astasie and Marie Emelie. The property is located on Plaquemine approximately six miles from the Courthouse. Nine arpents front by 7 arpents depth. Bounded by land of Syphroien Boudreau and other side by Archile Prejean. Other witnesses signing the succession document are B.F. Powell and Michel Prudhomme. A family council was held on 25 November 1844 included Christ Steel, Michael M. Bihm, Charles Lebert, Gears Prejean and Ursin Lavergne. Charles Lebert is their maternal uncle. Gerard Prejean and Christopher Steel are their uncles by marriage, Ursin Lavergne and Michel M. Bihm are family in case of default of other relations. PROBATE SALE TO MARCELITE LEBERT'S SUCCESSION History of St. Landry parish, Daily World, Reproduction of the St. Landry parish Whig; Thursday, 14 November 1944. Will be sold at public auction, by the Parish Judge in and for the parish of St. Landry, on Monday, the 25th day of November 1844, at the last residence of Marcelite Lebert, deceased situate and lying on Plaquemine Ridge in community between Hypolite Leger and the children and heirs of said Marcelite Lebert, his deceased wife, consisting of the tract or parcel of land, on which the deceased last resided, having nine arpents front by seven in depth, together with all the buildings and improvements theron - a dwelling house on the land of Syphroien Boudreau, in said parish, six horses, work oxen, one ox cart, one cart horse. BONAVENTURE MARTIN LAND CLAIMS American State Papers, Vol III, Pg. 173, No. 5-185, St. Martin Parish Courthouse. Francois Gonsoulin claims 148 arpents of land viz: 6 arpents front by 30 arpents depth on the right bank of Bayou Teche, County of Attakapas, held under a complete patent granted to Bonaventure Martin on 17 February 1772. 31 December 1813 - The Old board of Land Commissioners investigated the claim No. 2227 which says amount of land was 203.86 acres. (Information concerning this land was found on the plat map and also in American State Papers Volume II, page 869. The land is located in section 20, Township 11 South, Range 7 East. Land Records of The Attakapas District Volume I, pp. 386. On 31 December 1813 a certificate was issued to Heirs of Bonaventure Martin. The claim was founded on a complete Spanish land grant to Bonaventure Martin on Teche for 330 superficial arpents, dated 17 February 1772. SUCCESSION OF OLIVA OLIVIER WIFE OF ALLADIN BOUDREAU St. Landry parish Courthouse Succession No. 4700, dated 20 March 1886 Alladin is the Natural Tutor to Alladin and Ervina Boudreau minors, issue ot the marriage of Oliva Olivier deceased wife of Alladin Boudreau. Joseph Thibodeau and Clemin Boudreau appraised the property. The property is described as being situated near Grand Coteau, 25 arpents with buildings and improvements bound North by Dr. Mills, south by Firman Boudreau, East by Dr. Mills, West by Edmond Thibodeau. Item No. 4 of inventory: "Her interest in the estate of her deceased mother Mrs. William Elkins appraised at $50.00. There are nine children of their marriage of which four are minors, to wit: Hermina, Noelly, Alladin and Ervina. Firman Boudreau their brother is named Under-tutor. Witnesses: Louis M. Leger, Melar Daigle, Joseph Thibodeau and Clemin Boudreau.
