RURAL FREE DELIVERY

Postoffice Inspector S.W. Purdum was here Wednesday in the interest of 
Uncle Sam, and while here went over the proposed route for the Rural 
Free Delivery north of town with our local Postmaster.  This route passes 
Point Noir to B. Blanchard’s corner to Stagg’s Reive’s corner by Savoy’s 
to A.T. Richard and back to Church Point.

Mr. Purdum was very much pleased with the line and will send his 
recommendation for the establishment of the route.

This Rural Free Delivery will soon be established all around our town, 
and it seems the daily delivery of mails right to the doors of those 
along the line, and then when a farmer will not have to lose a half a 
day to go to town and get the mail.  Everybody should receive their 
mail at least once a day, because frequently the mail contains news 
that cannot stand to wait over a day for delivery.  While this is a 
very desirable system of delivery to have the initiative must come 
from the people in the locality, if you people are not included in 
this route mentioned want free delivery you must petition the Postmaster 
General at Washington, D.C. for the same and either send it direct to 
him or give it to your local postmaster will attend to it for you.
