All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ DESIRE FONTENOT AND AMBROISE DICK PLEAD GUILTY IN ASSAULT CASE Crowley Signal May 11, 1928 Desire Fontenot, white, and Ambroise Dick, alias “Chawee”, a negro, pleaded not guilty in district court this morning to charge of criminal assault involving a woman, the alleged attack have been made April 30. Judge W.W. Bailey fixed bond in each case at $500 and released was secured pending trial on May 21. The accused chose a trial by jury. The case was investigated by the recent grand jury, but held on a secret docket pending arrest of the accused. The men who live in the northern part of the parish, alleged to have attacked Mrs. Jules Bellard.
