All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ FAMILIES ADDED TO CHURCH POINT MAIL ROUTE NO. 2 Crowley Signal September 4, 1929 About 75 families will be added as patrons of the Church Point post office on September 16 when rural route #2 from that office will be extended so as to serve that territory in Lafayette parish near Vatican. Another extension affecting route #1 is now under consideration by the department. September 21, 1929 Twenty-one additional families will be added as patrons of the Church Point post office on October 1st when rural route #1 will be extended in the Prudhomme section near Eunice. This extension will be the third one authorized by the department since July which gives this office 100 additonal families. Another improvement in the service was made effective this week when the carrier authorized to carry mail from the afternoon Gulf Coast train arriving in Opelousas at 2:35 making it possible to receive mail from New Orleans and points along that line, the same day is mailed and also to speed up mail from the north and east by eighteen hours.
