Two men are in jail in connection with two of the cases, while an investigation was made this afternoon in the third. ---------- Arsen Boudreaux was Shot in the head by a bullet fired from the pistol Noah Carriere, assistant to Chief of Police Louis Richard of Church Point. Arsen Boudreaux 20, is in St. Mary’s sanitarium in that town in a critical condition with recovery doubtful. According to the Signal’s story from Church Point, Boudreaux was arrested last night and was being brought to the town jail by Chief Richard and his assistant, Carriere, to be held on a disorderly charge. While the chief was unlocking the jail door, it was said, Boudreaux tried to escape, being detected by Carriere who took out after him. When the fleeing man refused to the command to halt, Carriere said, he shot his pistol in the air. On the second shot he stumbled, however, the bullet striking Boudreaux somewhat and emerging slightly to the right above the right ear. It was also reported that when Boudreaux fell he fractured his skull on the concrete walk, but this was not verified fully. Boudreaux was taken immediately to St. Mary’s hospital in Church Point, where surgical attention was administered. No charge had been filed against Carriere up to this afternoon. Young Boudreaux is the son of Maurice Boudreaux who lives on the Val Bourque plantation. ----------- Crowley also had its shooting Sunday as a result of Wallace Huntsberry, negro, about 30 years old, is lying in critical condition with a bullet in his abdomen, while Ulysse Daniel, negro, about 40, is in parish jail awaiting charges, the nature of which depend upon developments in the condition of the wounded man. The shooting occurred on Avenue C between Third and Fourth streets near Hardy’s soft drink stand about 9 a.m. Sunday. The two men had met and started an argument. It was reported that before Daniel shot Huntsberry with a .45, Huntsberry had drawn a large butcher knife. Police picked up the knife at the scene of the fight the sheriff said. ------------ A quarrel between two motorists of a party of four that had stopped to repair a flat tire resulted in the fracture of Willie Morine’s skull on the road near Richard school house near Point Noir last night. A warrant has been sworn out against Adraste McGee, married man of the Point Noir community, charging him with striking with intent to kill. According to reports received by Sheriff Larcade here, McGee, Morine, Luke Boudreaux and Calice Quebodeaux were in a car which was forced to stop for a flat tire. While the men were working trouble was said to have broken out between McGee and Morine, during the course of which McGee is said to have struck Morine with the automobile jack, fracturing his skull. The sheriff was told that after the fight Quebodeaux and McGee got in the car, leaving Luke Boudreaux with the injured Morine, and had gone to the Morine home to notify the family. Sheriff Larcade and Deputy Sheriff Felix Lina later went to the McGee home and placed him under arrest, bringing him to the parish jail here. ---------- Reports of a cutting scrape in the Church Point section also came to the Signal, but no charges have been made in connection, nor was information given as to the names and circumstances. ---------- NOAH CARRIERE RELEASED ON BOND Crowley Signal October 8, 1929 Noah Carriere, assistant chief of police of the town of Church Point, was free on bond of $350 today following filing of a charge of shooting with intent to kill Arsen Boudreaux, 20 year old youth, shot in the head while officers were preparing to lock him up following his arrest for disorderly conduct, will probably recover.
